For anyone interested or who was there, Gifts for Grunts raised $1,150 which will be used to purchase goods and make gift packs for the men of Marine Delta Co. 2AABN currently serving in Iraq. Thanks to all of you who showed up and supported such a great cause. Without patrons like you we would be unable to host such great events to bring a little joy into the lives of others. I also would like to thank Mick from 99X and the members of Stairwell, Assembly Required and Tailgate for donating their time and talent. If you have yet to see one or any of these bands be sure to check them out at a live show, preferably at Unk's, but anywhere you can find them you will be in for a treat.
Also a very special thanks to our troops, the men and women, who day in and day out put their lives on the lines so that we may be fortunate to live free in such a great country.
Thanks,
Jeremy
Unk’s will be hosting the “Gifts for Grunts” Benefit on Thursday, August 27th from 7p-11p.
The event will be hosted by Mick from 99.5 the X along with a live remote and perhaps an infamous “Short Bus Sing-Along” or two.
Participating bands are Stairwell, Assembly Required and Tailgate.
We will be collecting a minimum donation of $5 at the door starting at 7pm. All monies collected at the door will be used to purchase goods for Marine Delta Company 2AABN currently stationed in Afghanistan. All expenses related to this event will be paid by Unk’s out of pocket including postage for the purchased goods, so you can be assured, and assure any who ask, that all money will be used to purchase much needed supplies. The main items to be purchased will include socks, Gold Bond foot powder, beef jerky and other staples requested by the platoon.
On a personal note, my fiancée and I thank you for your participation as her brother, Jason, is part of this Platoon and is currently serving his 2nd tour (previously was in Iraq). While it is not an easy time for us, or anyone with family overseas, it is very important to support our troops and keep them in good morale anyway possible. Jason has already run over an IED (land mine) in his tank and fortunately none of the 4 crew was seriously injured and Jason has returned to duty. Please keep him and all of our troops in your prayers.
We thank the bands and all those providing their time and talent for the “Gifts for Grunts” benefit, as well as you, the supporters of Unk’s whose patronage make events like this possible.
Thank you for your time and support.
Sincerely,
Jeremy Spengeman
