To answer your question Alan...plenty. The rage of the American people against its troops once the whistle was blown on Abu Gharib was nothing short of amazing. Its easy how a crowd that loyal can come down so hard. Perhaps I'm speaking clearly of my own experiences, but every time I was caught in uniform during those times, someone always had a quip about it. The funk of having to air the Army's dirty deeds still hasn't left the building quite yet.

With every war you will have naysayers and downlookers, and I welcome those people. They have every right to speak their mind regardless of how I feel about it or their innate ignorance of a situation that seems to pore out with every fiber of their being. The only way I can get around having it beat into my head that I was the anti-christ was to read some good sayings presented in some of my Army schools that I picked up along my 7 year career.

Saudi interests are merely our interests because of OPEC prices and our country's love for a free market. We don't have any troops there, and if you'll recall before the 2003 invasion of Iraq both Turkey and Saudi Arabia declined to give us permission to invade Iraq from their lands. A pretty large indication that people didn't want us to do this.

Regardless of all that, we're there. No sense arguing a semantic that simply cannot be changed no matter who is at fault. As I see it, the responsibility is shared by every single voter in America.

I think the problem that I have with everything lately is that no one is doing any sacrifices but the troops. I travel a lot for my job and noticed so many people driving SUV's. You couldn't hardly drive during WW II. Hell, if you had a car and could it was likely because you were rich. Everyone served. Big name actors even. Could you imagine a different world with similar circumstances? George Clooney and Brad Pitt....serving in the military? Would it make a difference?

We're supposed to be at war, but the home front doesn't really do anything to support it other than perhaps a school sent care package or a little yellow magnet on their car. Illusionary support at best. I tend to tell people how it is. To explain that there is less than one percent in this country that feels a compulsion to do a service like this.

I used to tell my privates at Basic this: "You have elected to be a part of the most technologically advanced military on the face of the earth. Its not a question of why you chose to serve. Its a question on if you earn the privilege to be a part of something bigger than an yourself. To represent an idea, a core being, a value so high that even we fail to meet our own standards sometimes, but we're not afraid of admitting these mistakes. It's courage that you learn here. Courage to try and fail. Courage to lay down your life for another. You will make many mistakes and you will learn. I will be your instructor. your guidance, your support, and your father and even your mother in this great quest. Welcome to the first day of your new life. BEAT YOUR FACES!! "

I realize that I've bloviated far too long and will leave you simply with this. Just think how you would feel if everything you did was questioned like it was a poor decision. Would you quit? Would you change jobs? Just some food for thought.

If you are arguing for or against something chances are high that you were at one time involved in it. Its just irksome to call it anything less than what it is and thats the total desire for the gathering of personal wealth.

See, you're more of a exception to the rule. There are some people that just don't care because its never affected them at all. It's simply something thats on the news and is old news at best. Those who are not used to running a 20 mile marathon might tire out at mile 4 and they're thinking "Well...crap. How am I going to get to 20?" Its not just getting to 20 that they have to worry about, but mile 5, 6, 7, 8..ect. These say individuals are like "Why do we have to spend time in Iraq? Why do our troops need to be there isn't the mission done already...we got Saddam right?" They're not used to creating a solution to a problem that isn't instant. It took 14 years for us to actually have a Constitution. We're on year 5 of the Iraq situation. I'd say we're doing pretty damn good.

I honor your support and admiration. It pleases me greatly that we have someone like you lauding our efforts and respecting our sacrifices. It makes the job that much sweeter. For those that don't, asking them if they can make a difference isn't necessary. I know they can't and they know they can't.

Some time I wonder if this is a two way street. To many people are blaming everything on the liberal that they have blind side themself to the real threat around them divide own country. On both side of the fence I believe each have those that are acting werid to me. I belong to no party but I rather see someone tell me what they are doing right than telling me what the other person is doing wrong.

when I first read you bulletin, and click on the bottom of it thinking it would be a short cut to you blog, it took me to my blog, one that I wrote about my cousin who died in viet nam, he was a marine, my very special granddaughter, is getting ready to join the marine's she just was tested, and did very well on her test. I am very proud of our marines's and future marines's, and OUR FEMALE MARINES, (I dis-like code pink and all it stand for, I wish there was no such thing). I love this country and would love to do more, but soon I will be giving my only true granddaughter to the Marines.......GOD BLESS OUR MARINES, and ARMY, NAVY, AIRFORCE, and THE NATIONAL GUARDS....And YES GOD BLESS AMERICA, HOME OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN...........
