Last night the John Sharples Band opened their set at the Hook in Red Hook, Brooklyn with a high-energy version of Blow This Nightclub's "When Amy Says," outfitted for the occasion with a longish, driving instrumental introduction. It sounded great: it was interesting to hear Larry Jacobson's start-stop song concept replaced by a start-and-don't-stop ethos.
