Hey everybody! So one day I decided in lieu of the frequency of shows I play and the fact that I dedicate so much of my waking life to music and drumming, I found it silly that in this age of widespread electronic communications and the information superhighway more accessible than ever, there was virtually no decent quality video footage of me playing music available for public viewing. So in early March I marched into San Francisco's Tiny Telephone studios, armed with only my drum set, various percussion instruments, a slew of cooking ware, a four person crew, and a couple of costume changes, and set out to change this. The end result is a four part video series entitled "Expansive Smiles Drumming" now ready for viewing on youtube. Recorded and engineered by Scott Mcdowell, filmed and edited by Emily Ritz and Mennlay Aggrey, with musical production help from James Riotto, these videos reveal what I would do if left to my own design for 16 hours in a recording studio with a couple cameras and the above mentioned tools (the equipment, not the people, silly!). The first three are performance videos with different musical themes meant for your viewing and listening pleasure, and the fourth is a drum instructional video where I explain an intermediate/advanced drum concept I came across (aimed toward prospective drum students, or anyone who wants to learn more about drumming...).
Each video is only about two minutes long so watching the whole series won't take you more than 8 minutes or so. Pour a cup of coffee and enjoy. P.S. For best results plug in a pair of good computer speakers or headphones and also choose the HQ viewing option as the sound quality and video image are much better. Enjoy!
