JGAS Events is proud to announce, THE BLOODY VALENTINE FILM FESTIVAL – A celebration of cinema dedicated to the art and imagination that goes into the creation of romantic horror in film. Taking place the weekend of February 14-15, 2009 in Los Angeles, California (at a location TBA), the event promises to be a horror cinephiles' dream!
We've been working hard to bring you what we believe is an unprecedented event. Here is a synopsis of what is on the lineup.
Kick-off bash and benefit beginning with a zombie walk through the city will culminate at an outdoor VIP party where attendees will be asked to bring a non-perishable item of food for the Los Angeles Food Bank (http://www.lafightshunger.org/). Promotional items like blankets and vinyl seats will be available for the guests' comfort as they watch 2004'S DAWN OF THE DEAD on a giant inflatable screen provided by Hollywood Outdoor Movies (http://www.hollywoodoutdoormovies.com/).

SLITHER Q&A PANEL: Hosted by James Gunn and featuring the cast of the film.
SPECIAL EFFECTS PANEL: Hosted by Vincent Guastini ("Dogma", "Driftwood") of V.G.P. Special Effects.
FULL-LENGTH 35 MILLIMETER FILMS:
SLiTHER (2006) - Written and directed by James Gunn, SLiTHER is the story of what can happen when a seemingly small meteorite lands on earth and is discovered by an everyday guy. "The small town of Wheelsy has no idea what is awaiting for it. It's a small, quiet town where everyone knows each other. But an evil has quietly arrived - and it's growing... Family pets go missing, livestock is found mutilated, and a young woman goes missing. In the brilliant style of the 80's best horror comedy classics, Slither delivers gross outs, freak outs and a gaggle of hilarious one-liners that make this movie a must for any film lover."
My Bloody Valentine (1981) - A decade's old folk tale surrounding a deranged murderer killing those who celebrate Valentine's Day, turns out to be true to legend when a group defies the killer's order and people start turning up dead. This gem has been remade by Lionsgate as a brand-new 3-D retelling to be released in January of 2009.
Count Yorga, Vampire (1970) - Centuries old Count Yorga is a vampire that is given a ride to his gloomy mansion in the woods by a your couple in their Volkswagon van. On the way out of the woods, the vehicle becomes stuck in the mud, but the duo refuses to return to the creepy house. The next day, the woman starts to behave strangely and her boyfriend suspects she has been bitten by the vampire.
The Return of Count Yorga (1971) - Lonely vampire Count Yorga and his bloodthirsty cohorts begin living in a ramshackle mansion located near an orphanage. This slightly fang-in-cheek horror film chronicles what happens when the Count falls in love with a toothsome young woman and tries to make her his bride. Fortunately for her, her boyfriend has other ideas.
Bride of Re-Animator (1990) - Herbert West and his reluctant sidekick, Dr. Cain, return for another funny, gory round of bringing back the dead in bits and pieces. This time, West cons Cain into an attempt to rebuild his late girlfriend, using her preserved brain and body parts scrounged from the local hospital. What results is a kind of sideways parody of "The Bride of Frankenstein". Directed by Brian Yuzna, this fun film was an instant cult classic.
Tromeo and Juliet (1996) - A modern, punk adaptation of Shakespeare's classic. Told irreverently, this film attempts to impact the viewer in the same way theatre-goers were affected in Shakespeare's time. The film has been described as bawdy, violent, humorous, and romantic.
SHORT FILMS:
I Love You - By Tristan Versluis starring Axelle Carolyn ("Doomsday") and Leslie Simpson ("Dog Soldiers"). With introduction by actor and star, Axelle Carolyn.
Oh Sherrie - By Adam Green starring Kyle Brandt ("Days of Our Lives"). With introduction by the filmmakers.
