ON SUNDAY
A Benefit for the RNC8
Garrett Fitzgerald and Eryn Trimmer will be coming to Bemidji to speak on Sunday, November 2nd at ..3:30pm..at the People's Church, 824 America Ave. They are two of eight people (RNC8) facing felony conspiracy charges stemming from theprotests at this year’s Republican National Convention in St. Paul, MN. They will give presentations, followed by a Q& A discussion, regarding the events surrounding the RNC. They will address issues of profiling, policebrutality, censorship, free speech violations, and the legal charges activistsare facing in the aftermath. The charges against the RNC8 represent Minnesota’s first use of criminal charges with terrorism enhancements under the 2002 stateversion of the Federal Patriot Act. The local branch of the ACLU will also present on police brutality and racial profiling in this region.
During the event, there will be music provided by JimMiller, Shannon Murray, and Dennis Montgomery. There will also be a dinner prepared by local chefs and artisans. There is a suggested donation of 5-50 dollarsfor the presentation, food and entertainment. All money will go towards the defense fund for the RNC8. No one will be turned away for lack offunds.
