Let's get ready to ramble. :)
I left the bay area wednesday night for san diego and the comic con. i get paid on thursdays so all i had was $40 and my friend was going to give me spending money then have me write a check to repay. I caught 6:40 flight instead of the 7:40 i was booked for. I caught a cab as soon as i got to san diego. It got stuck in traffic right in front of a train that runs all the way straight through the downtown area  anyways it ended up being almost a $40 ride. We used a friends travel points on this trip to book our hotels. we stayed at the hilton the first night. my friends arrived shortly after me(they got to go to SDCC preview night)
We got a few beers from the bar then headed over to the spa. the hotel was pretty nice. not as great as it would seem for what they charge, but still nice. We had some good conversation. One of the most ironic things to happen on this trip was at one point a guy showed up and we started talking with him. He said he was trying to be a professional cyclist. we mentioned the thing about the tour de france leader being kicked off for substance abuse. Later in the conversation he asked if we had any herb or where he could get some. lol
-Thursday
In the morning i left terrible. I had 3 beers the night before and the last time i had eaten was 12 noon on wednesday so all i had in me was the beer :/ yup had to puke... anyways left the hilton and checked into the hyatt which was only 200 feet from the Con.
I've never seen so many people in my life as i found in front of the converntion center. The line to pick up badges went all the way around the converntion center. it looked like it would take hours to pick up my badge so that was very disapointing. To my shock i walked right by peter mayhew(The guy that played chewbacca) out front. i would of said something but i was so suprised. my friend stood in line for me while i went back to the hotel to get some music to listen to while i waited. That's when he got the "It takes a lifetime to become a stormtrooper" :) after getting back it still took about a hour to get my badge. i still hadn't eaten yet and felt terrible.
After the badge i grabed some food for all of us and went into the biggeset hall for the paramount presentation. i got a bag of Tshirts and posters that had the 1-18-08 movie and star trek in it. The presentation started with HOT ROD. Andy Samberg was there. sorry the pic is so bad :/ He was pretty funny. they showed a clip from the movie where he does a flashdance scene in the woods and falls down a hill forever. They did a Q and A. sorry the pic is so bad :/
Abrams was next. he talked very quickly. see the 1-18-08 thread. he left quickly then came right back with others to talk about star trek. The big news from this was the casting of spock. It was a guy that played on heroes. i forget his name right now. Nimoy showed up too which was kind of cool. he said he would be playing spock as well in the film. They do look alike don't you think?
ok well darn you can tell can you? lol. my camera isn't that great indoors.
I wanted to see some of the show floor but i stayed around after paramount ended to see Lionsgate presentation and Jessica Alba :D dane cook also showed up to promote their movie Good Luck Chuck. They showed the preview it was acually pretty funny. every woman cook sleeps with ends up finding her soulmate leaving him free to date someone else. so when he meets alba he is scared to get get iintimate with her. They had a Q and A i didn't get a chance to get in line in time, plus i didn't really have anything good to ask. one of the better indoor pics at least. I will be getting my friends pics in a day or 2. i will post some good stuff then too. better quality then mine.
I left right after Alba did so i could make it to the LOST presentation. On the way i found myself following some people into the wrong room. It was a press room and they were waiting to take close ups of alba. i was kind of excited but i was discovered and asked to leave before she showed up. The LOST presentation was very good. one of the best i watched all show. it made me want to watch the show more completely then i have.
went to the LOST presentation at san diego comic con this last thursday. The Co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse talked about the show.
they showed a clip of the cast reflecting on season 3 and what could be in season 4. they had a awesome Q and A session with the crowd that really hyped me to watch the show more completely. i have just skipped around and read lostpedia.
They said 3 more seasons of 16 episodes each season. no reruns so they can run all episodes 16 weeks straight.
Season starts in febuary. they start shooting in a month. the dvd fopr season 3 comes out early december
The big suprise moment was *SPOILER* after a few people asked about the possiblity of michaels s return, Harold Perrineau walked out on to the stage to a huge applause. he confirmed he will be back.
They showed a clip of the LOST videogame. then at the end of the presentation they said they had one last suprise as they walked off the stage. might be a spoiler but might just be a fun little bit hard to tell anyways *possible SPOILER they showed a DHARMA video of Dr. Marvin Candle. it was semi shaky, it spliced out parts where it seemed like he was going to say something important. he was holding a rabbit with a number on it. at one point he freaks out when another rabbit appears on a shelf behind him and restarts the presentation. it ended with him about to say something important and the clip seemed to shread onscreen. lol i didn't really get it but i loved the mystery of it. you can watch the video here :) http://youtube.com/watch?v=4bTvAUVPyLI
one of the best presentations of the show. if i go to SDCC next year i will go to LOST again for sure.
After LOST the day was almost over. I had an hour to check out the main floor for the first time. Lots of cool stuff. I got my starwars stuff and and my little pony for my daughter as seen in the water cooler thread. Here is a terminator at the sideshow booth. i spent a good amount of time at sideshow as i get almost all the starwars 12"s they make.
had to stop by the starwars shop to see what they had. They had a small display of the vader project. these helmets that artists could do with as they pleased. very cool stuff!
When the show ended thursday we went back to the hotel and droped off out stuff before heading out to eat. Downtown San diego has lots of cool little resturants and bars. funny thing is no mcdonalds, burger king, taco bell, etc. So things can be a little costly. Ate dinner at a place called Moose's then hit a few bars. Lot of live bands. we stopped in one with a cover band. When they did America F*** Yeah from Team America that was pretty fun. the whole bar sang along.
Back to my thread over a month after the event. my friend finally sent me the pics tonight so i can share more.
This is a good pic to show the crazy amount of people that atttend SDCC. The line to pick up your badge went all the way down as far as you can see then around the whole convention center
Here is a shot of spielberg, and ford from the set of indy 4. at first i thought they were live but i could soon tell that it was recorded. the big news was that karen allen will be back as Marion Ravenwood.
Here JJ Abrams and the guy from heroes thats going to play spock in the christmas 2008 Star Trek. I've never been a fan of star trek, but this one could be decent under JJ. They said they still have no idea for kirk and was asking the crowd who they thought would be good.
Who likes dane cook? well my friend didn't get close ups of him but he did get some good ones of jessica alba :) The movie good luck chuck does look pretty funny. i've tryed watching into the blue a few times just because alba is in it and it's just not watchable.
This girl was pretty suprising. she really had one leg and the gun leg from that tarantino B movie.
I didn't attend this panel but i'm guessing Rob Zombie was talking about halloween. i wonder if he mentioned the office as a project?
Friday was starwars day which i was really looking forward to. i went to the hasbro presentation. It was boring for Joel, but cool for me. kinda. They spent 50 minutes talking about stuff i already knew about and then had to speed through all the stuff we haven't and the preview of next years stuff.
They had a Starwars at 30 presentation that was in the big hall H. Steve sansweet hosted the event. He is the big offical starwars collector that really does have everything. what a great job eh? He showed a video of starwars celebration 4 which i really wish i would went to it looked really fun. He also showed a really cool video of a collection of how people have used starwars for humor over the years. Then sansweet brought out seth mcfarlane who makes family guy. They are doing a hour long starwars tribute to open the season this year. they played the first 8 minutes of the episode. I'm not a family guy fan, but it was pretty cool. It plays out just like a new hope with the dad playing han, the son plays luke, the baby is vader. They ended the event with some more on indy just a few shots from the set of shia labeouf on a bike. nothing too fancy
Kevin smith had his panel toward the end of the day of friday but i missed it.
i went to a starwars trivia event. It was pretty fun they asked a question and gave a or b answers. then you had to walk to either A side or B side of the room until only 1 person was left standing. I won the first round!! :) I got a vintage scout trooper figure. I didn't win any of the other rounds but it was still fun. I will attend that event again for sure next year.
They handed out tickets for superbad at the con but the theater was about 7 blocks away so i rushed right after the con got out to get in the line. I was very disapointed when i was turned away :/ i really wanted to see it and the screening was almost a month before release.
as our backup we went to a dvd release party across the street from the con at petco park where the padres play. some of the folks involved like frank miller came out of the baseball field before the movie. They played the film on the big screens all around the field. It was free, they gave out a 300 gift bag full of stuff, a cardboard shield, and they had free popcorn. The experience of it was cool. The crowd chanted along at certain parts. Here is one of me out from of the stadium with my shield. lol
Now here is some inside info that is really cool! :) The new Ironman movie! We attended a panel where they were going to talk a little bit about the new ironman movie. They started by saying they had some early animatics to show. as a joke they played old ironman cartoons where ironman kind of dragged across the screen. Then the director Jon Favreau came out and said he had the trailer for us way before anyone else would see it. It really was quite impressive. Robert Downey Jr. plays tony stark and was excellent in the trailer. he really seems like the perfect choice. almost the whole trailer had no effects but was impressive. Ironman shows up first in the classic big suit and then at the very end of the trailer you see the new armor. Here are a few shots of Favreau, Downey Jr, and the classic suit which was hidden most of the show in a crate.
here is a link for the offical site. no trailer posted yet :/ http://www.ironmanmovie.com/
seth green was there. i didn't see him though. one of the guys i went with kevin got to see all kinds of people i missed. i'll need to hang with him a little more next year :)
To wrap up the trip on saturday night we went to Hooters. lol. I tryed to pull the stunt from the secret but it was pretty late and the waitress crew wasn't up a frontside dance.
This was so funny. this Cobra crew was rocking out at this hotdog stand on the street of downtown san diego.
Last night in the hyatt. good shot to see how big it was.
On Sunday we went over to con to wrap things up. took a few pictures. i know we have a few potter fans here. they had some really awesome voldemort statues.
We went to the airport to catch a semi early flight to ensure we would make it home.
So that's that! If you ever get a chance to go to the San Diego Comic con i would recommend it. Just so much going on. Not just for comic fans, but for just about everything entertainment as you could see from my report on it.
I plan to go again next year and i've tryed to hype up just about everyone i know to go, so we just might have a Entourage! lol I know if you read this here on myspace you most likely will be going next year so get hyped! :)
I wrote most of this over at my officequotes forums and i'm disapointed to see that myspace does not use the same code for photos as forums so to see some of the photos from my trip visit http://www.officequotes.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=587
