There is a good reason why this question was posed. These are the kinds of things that we need to discuss within the community. You jumped to the conclusion that this question was not serious enough. Yes—it was posed in an amusing manner, but it does have a valid purpose. How we think about ourselves as a community is relevant.

We can be "serious" about the community without being "serious." None of us wants us to be just like the Chamber of Commerce or the local school PTA. Those organizations have their purposes and we have ours. It's more important to be "real". Sometimes that means being irreverent. It's better to have a community where people say what they mean and mean what they say with no bullshit—but do so with a degree of respect.

What does it matter that the politicians take us our our web site seriously? Our intentions are to effect change in Saginaw by making it happen ourselves. The politicians have had their chance for too long and have screwed it up. We ourselves have the replace them and rule our own city, not let someone else do it for us.


Also—as for approving comments. This is necessary to cut down on people posting comments advertising their latest get-rich-quick business opportunity. Moving Saginaw Forward values free speech greatly. For the most part it is not our intention to edit or censor the comments made by people except if it was necessary to keep MySpace from cancelling our account because someone posted something that was in violation of their terms of service.
