This is not your father's Rare Medium??!??!???? As you all know, we've gone through quite a few changes over the past year. We started tinkering with few things here and there; and by the time we were through half the band was new. Times change, and so does Rare Medium. We've been playing monthly gigs with the new lineup at Tryg's in Minneapolis. It's a cool place, but we're definitely "that band in the corner" It's tough for our fans to get anywhere near us unless you show up early (or around closing time). Our first venture back into the Rock clubs (the Cabooze with God Johnson) went great. We got a great response from the crowd, many of whom (by the looks of them) weren't of drinking age the last time we played there. Young or old, we WILL Rock You. That said, we're excited to be playing the French Press Cafe in St. Paul this weekend. It's our first time at this venue. We hope you all are as excited as we are about playing all night with a place with an actual stage! (see above comments on Tryg's). Also, on Saturday we're playing The Nomad with our old friends the Jack Brass Band. They're a great local New Orleans Style Brass Band. They're recently made news helping out a bunch of New Orleans musicians displaced after the wake of Katrina. It'll be a great night of music for sure. Other than that, we're hard at work writing and working up new material for you all. Which leads us to the question we're so glad you're asking... WHERE ARE THE NEW TUNES???? They're here now if you're checking out the live shows. A good portion of our sets are new tunes since we've played with the old lineup. They're coming soon if you're forced by laziness or geography to get your Rare Goodness through perceptually coded sound files... We're doing our best to get something recorded, but our #1 priority is getting the live show as tight as possible. We hope you understand.
