Who Gives Kudos:

September 3, 2009 - Thursday
Who? Bullshit Bookings
Where? Communications Area
When? 12th of September 2009, Airport Weeze, Weeze (GE)
Spoken to? Frank Kvitta (FK) & Tressy Kvitta (TK)

When did it happen? FK: “In 2006 I started my label together with Ben Santo and of course we needed a name. Here in Germany the people that don’t like hardtechno used to say we make ‘bullshit music’, so we thought “That’s perfect!”. I’m always cracking jokes and don’t take life too seriously, so why wouldn’t we make fun of our own music? Our label turned out to be a success and after a year I wanted to unite a bookings agency, so I could do something in return for all my friends that helped me with DJ’ing in the past. My wife Tressy considered it a nice job to run this agency and she’s stuck with all the scum ever since.” TK: “How sweet of him huh? But I’m not on my own anymore, recently Bjorn Dolné joined our Bullshit family. He’s our new booking agent.”

What happened with hardtechno?
FK: “The hardtechno scene here in Germany is pretty big. It started about eight, nine years ago with guys like DJ Rush and Chris Liebing. Hardtechno developed a lot during the years and transformed into a different sound. Big organizations like I-Motion book a lot of hardtechno artists for events as Mayday, Nature One and Syndicate. In Holland you can also find hardtechno at the bigger events like Awakenings and Defqon.1. And again at Q-BASE again of course, where hardtechno has been succesfully programmed ever since the first edition. Holland also offers some smaller pure hardtechno concepts. In my opinion you can’t say hardtechno is underground anymore. About three years ago there even was a short hype around the music. Hardtechno is also flourishing in other countries: in Spain it’s almost as popular as electro and minimal. In Belgium and Italy people love the sound as well and I’m playing there on regular base.”

Why Bullshit Bookings @ Q-BASE?
FK: “In the first place because I’m such a handsome guy of course, it’s obvious Q-dance couldn’t fail to notice. Besides that, the newcomers we signed for Bullshit are doing a very good job worldwide now. We also did some good promotion for ourselves: last year we had a truck at Love Parade for instance. I recurrently played at Q-dance events myself as well, I also played at their techno concept Teqnology. That doesn’t exist anymore? Good to know, than I should have a little talk with those guys at Q-BASE. Better said: I will brainwash them. And when I’m busy doing that, I might as well make them redefine the entrance in order to have all the partypeople enter directly in our bunker. That’s the place to be anyway. “

Who will make it happen?
TK: “We opted for a constructive line-up, so people can hear we offer different music styles. Mo-Franco is with Bullshit since the beginning and he will play techno. We invited Oliver Cucera to play at our truck at Love Parade last year and that was a success, so we wanted to have him back. Patrick DSP from Canada is touring in Europe for three months from September, which gave us the perfect opportunity to invite him for Q-BASE. Frank Kvitta is a newcomer.” FK: “Isn’t he that handsome bloke?” TK: “Boris S. is simply fantastic, every live-act he does is massive. 3Headzahead are upcoming talents, they’re signed at Bullshit Bookings since the start. Frank knows them from back in the days. They really have their own style and they’re doing very well. Curious persons can already see them perform at Decibel Festival. And Paul Langley also brought his techno to Bullshit when we started. In our bunker you can expect a mix of various styles. The beginning will be more peaceful and when the night falls things will get rough as fuck. What I really enjoy at festivals like Q-BASE is that people can visit different areas and thus get exposed to new musical movements.”

What will happen?
TK: “We are full-on brainstorming about some things, but we’ll keep those our secret for now. For sure crazy stuff will happen, so people just have to come to our bunker to experience that themselves. Who knows, maybe Frank will do a striptease act.” FK: “There will be a lot of mystery and a lot of bullshit!”. TK: “ Ok, we’ll tip the scale just a little: we have some presents that will be tossed in the crowd. Oh, and Frank just returned from Nature One where he performed in an Obelix suit. Maybe a Borat swimsuit could be a nice outfit for Q-BASE.” FK: “Yes, so I can sling it in the crowd together with the ten strings that I’m wearing for two months already without washing them. But don’t mention that in the interview. Otherwise nothing will happen at the other Q-BASE areas anymore since everyone will be in our bunker!”
