Hey Gang!

I am so very PLEASED to announce the start of a charity auction of the beautiful ONE-OF-A-KIND guitar pictured below, which was handcrafted and designed by Rob Videtto of Rob's Guitar Works (http://robsguitarworks.com).

The beauty with its creator, Rob Videtto!

Rob, who previously made me a Les Paul style guitar which I adore, made this guitar especially for me to sign (on back of guitar), auction and to donate 100% of the proceeds of to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) during an appearance I will be making at the "Walk Like MADD" event in Raleigh, North Carolina on March 29th, where I will also be performing (see my events section on my main page for more details).

Those of you who own my CD know that the issue of drunk driving is something I care a great deal about, with my having written a song for my album called "I Wasn't A Friend", which sends a strong message about the consequences of not stopping a friend from driving drunk, and dedicating it in the liner notes to all the families who have lost a loved one in a drunk driving accident. It was through my efforts at promoting this song and drunk driving awareness in general that I came to know a beautiful lady named Zebbra who wrote to tell me how much the song meant to her because her only son, Johnathon Ferguson, had been killed by a drunk driver in October of 2005. The money raised in the auction that MADD receives is, of course, in honor of ALL victims of drunk driving, but the guitar has a specific logo dedication on the headstock, which was created by Vicky Adair, that indicates the guitar was lovingly made in Memory of Zebbra's son specifically. Zebbra is the one who brought me and my song to the attention of MADD's chapter in North Carolina (I'm grateful for that - thank you, Zebbra!) and her son John also played guitar (as mentioned in my previous blog - the current profile pic on this page is of John with his guitar and so it seems especially appropriate that a beautiful guitar was created with a dedication to him on it and the money will go to help MADD and their cause.

Zebbra and I would like to thank all the wonderful people who have had a part in making the guitar a reality. First and foremost, our very special thanks to Rob Videtto. For the donations of parts or special pricing on materials needed to create the guitar, thank you to http://www.guitarheads.net,
http://www.allparts.com, Southeast Music out of Tennessee and Wood Workers Wource of Arizona. Last, but not least, thanks to Vicky Adair for her time and creativity in making the headstock logo design.

If the guitar's minimum price is out of your reach to make a bid, please consider making any donation directly to "John's Team" at the Walk or, if you are in the area, please consider signing up as a walker yourself. Zebbra would love to have you join her!

I would also like to personally thank my fans/friends who have donated directly to the MADD Walk already - Don, Tim, Racheal, Suzanne, Vicky, Ron and Michele.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BIDDING ON THE GUITAR:

Please send an email to Lori.Brown@MADD.org with your first and last name, address and contact telephone number along with your bid. Our high bid at the moment is $400, so please make your bid amount higher than that if you wish to make a play for this beautiful guitar. Bidding ends at 4:00pm Friday March 28, 2008 and the winner will be contacted, as well as posted online (unless winner specifically asks to remain anonymous). If for some reason payment cannot be made by the winning bidder, then the guitar will go to the next highest bid. MADD will be responsible for contacting the winner and accepting payment. Credit cards and checks are accepted, payment must post before guitar will be shipped.

Rob Videtto will be on hand to present the guitar to me for my autograph at the MADD walk on March 29th while I am on stage for a live performance of "I Wasn't A Friend". Please come out to this event if you are able. The guitar will be shipped once payment has been made by the winner and after the MADD walk on March 29, 2008.
