Who Gives Kudos:

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

As most of you know, Jonah33 is no longer…that season has ended.  However, it is exciting because new seasons are beginning not just for me but for other members too.  Below, I have shared with you why Jonah33 has ended and some of the new seasons for the members in the band.  Check it out.  If you have questions for me let me know by emailing me at heliumlaunch@gmail.com, and I will try to answer them and post the answers in a new blog.  I am on the road with Ginny Owens and Farewell June playing some of my latest so check out the tour dates and come by if we are playing in an area near you!

Fan: Why has Jonah33 decided to end?

Vince: Jonah33 decided to call it quits mainly because there is one solid principle in the Kingdom, and that is that everything operates in seasons. The season for Jonah33 had come to end. There are many details that need not be mentioned, but overall, we all felt like it was time. The ship had "run its course" if you will. It seemed like odd timing as we had just released "The Heart of War", our 3rd album, but it just seemed natural. Of course, in perspective of God's timing, we all had other things to go to, so it was just confirmation that it was the right move. We met SO many people over the past 8 years, too many to count, that supported us, believed in us and loved us, and for that, we will always be in debt. Words cannot describe what they mean to us.

Fan: What is Helium?

Vince: I decided to launch a solo project called Helium because I find that with everything I write, ultimately, I am trying to bring people back to God. We all know that if you let a balloon go filled with helium, it will continue to ascend. That's my desire and passion. That everything I do will cause people to always turn back towards Him.

Fan: Is anyone else from Jonah33 pursuing a solo project?

Vince: Yes, Josh is working on a project of his own.  He is much further ahead of me.  You can find out more information about what he is doing and where he is by checking out this link: www.myspace.com/thejoshuaproject.

Fan: Will you/Helium be releasing a new album soon?

Vince: Yes, I am currently tracking a record of a group of songs that I have had for a few years, as well as some new ones that I am really excited about. Hopefully it will be made available in June at shows as well as to be purchased on line. I really want to get back to the grass roots of music. Where it's not about the "polished" production. The industry isn't heavy handed into it. It's really just me and the songs that come out of me made available for anyone who might be interested in what I have learned....

Fan: Do you remember your first performance ever?

Vince: My first performance is easy to remember because it was also my wife and I's first date! I played with my band on a trailer in the parking lot of a Baptist church in Mena, Arkansas. After the show that night, my wife and I went out and got a bite to eat, and I have been with her ever since! That was over 12 years ago.....

Fan: What are the pros and cons of being a solo artist now, instead of being in a band?

Vince: There are definitely some pros to not traveling with a band. You don't have to split a check 4 ways for starters!!!! But, aside from that, it's a lot easier to walk into a place and pick up your guitar and play. You don't have to worry about setting up and tearing down. And the only one to get on my nerves now is me! Although, I can't really complain, I had a good group of guys to tour with, and I love them all dearly. The cons are not having that companionship on the road. I don't really have anyone to share in ministry with. Both the ups and downs. But, as I mentioned before, everything is seasonal…including Helium.

Guys we love you and pray the best for each of you. We will miss you as a group but hope to see you soon in your other adventures.
Much Love

The Thirst is Taking Over

So I guess I'm really behind in my Jonah33 news because this totally blindsided me! It's very sad to hear about Jonah33 breaking up, but if you feel that's God's will, then I guess it's for the best. I just want to say one thing though, I only have your first album, but it made a huge impact on me. I've been a christian my whole life, but I still found inspiration and encouragement from songs on there! Keep it up and stay with God!

Best of luck on everything. Jonah33 has been one of my favorite bands ever since the first CD. "Watching You Die" & "All For You" are STILL two of my favorite songs of all time!!!

Wow, I too was blindsided by this news! It's unfortunate for us fans because your music was great but it's refreshing to see men following God's desire for their lives instead of allowing "the world" to guide your ambitions. Best of luck on your solo projects! Looking forward to seeing God continue to use you as He sees fit!
