-'"I like to tell stories. I am going to tell you a story about a girl who didn't want to belong."'
I recently read the book A House on Mango Street. I honestly feel everyone should read this book. It's sooo good, and has connected so well with my life right now. I know, I know, come on you nerd, you're reading in the summer?! It's the end of the summer too, you should be having fun, not reading! But hey, who wants to belong?
-'"All brown all around, we are safe. But watch us drive into a neighborhood of another color and our knees go shakity-shake and our car windows get rolled up tight and our eyes look straight. Yeah. That is how it goes and goes."'
I honestly wish people would stop judging people so much. You say you're a christian, you say you're open to anything, you say you want peace, wish the fighting would stop, but where in your life have you shown it? I know I'm not always so open minded, but I try. So what, it may be against what you believe in or completely different from what you've grown up with. Live a little, learn a little, love a little. Isn't that what life's really supposed to be about? People aren't always what you've heard of them. Maybe they've done stupid things, but sometimes different people bring out different sides of others. I just wish people would stop being so hard on others and just give them a chance. Maybe you could bring out something wonderful in them.
