We've just finished a rework of the
Pet-Abuse.Com homepage, which features some pretty nifty enhancements that I hope you'll find useful:
1. Tabbed format allowing us to present more info on the homepage with minimal clutter
2. Local cases tab, showing only recent cases in the same state as the user (US only).
3. Map snapshot - this is a minimap within the local cases tab that shows a map featuring only the most recent cases in that area, and a blurb about how many cases are within a specified radius. This is basically the same functionality as the
local search, but in snapshot form, to once again show the user that animal cruelty happens in their own backyards.
4. Improved Courtwatch snapshot, with larger graphics and more information on the court date itself. Red calendar icons mean the event is today, blue means its upcoming, and either blue or red with a star mean that the court date is in the same state as the user (which will hopefully encourage them to attend or get involved.) (This format change is only on the court tab, not on the full Courtwatch listing page.)
5. Most Read page - I'm always curious to see which are the most talked about cases. This section will show you exactly that. Most of these will be recent cases that people are finding, but it's interesting to see which older cases are still getting heavy traffic - the Michael Vick case, for one.
Those are the highlights. I'll be tweaking things a bit more over the next few days, I'm sure. As always, let me know if you have any questions or comments. :)
