I was informed today that some of Kelly's old FiFi's customers will not be patronizing (shopping at the store, for all you smart peoples) our store because of the new ownership. Emily and I find this very disconcerning, and wanted to explain a few things to the people who wish to act this way:
First of all, Kelly, the previous owner, was burnt out and wanted to spend more time with her family. No one in their right mind can blame her for that. So she decided to sell the store. Read that last sentence well. This was NOT some kind of hostile takeover, or muscle move. As a matter of fact, Kelly had several options as far as buyers, and she CHOSE Emily and I because of the direction we had in mind, and she knew we would do everything possible to keep the business thriving.
Secondly, if anyone thinks that we are changing the store, you obviously haven't been in yet. We've made three minor changes to the store: we painted, we added a local music section, and we're adding more men's clothing. Those are the only changes that have or will be made to the store. And as I stated before, that was one of the reasons that Kelly chose us to take over. The name's still the same, in honor of Kelly and Ernie's daughter, Sophia (one of the other perspective buyers wanted to change the name). And the products and brands are still the same (another perspective buyer wanted to take the store in more of a skin/oi direction).
So basically, what I'm getting at, is that we love Kelly as much as all of you do. That's why we wanted the store, and that's why we really haven't changed a thing, other than the color of the walls, the local section, and adding some more men's apparel. Sure, there'll be different faces at the counter, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We'd like to get to know all of you, too!
Anyone who takes the time to talk to Kelly will realize that she still loves the store, and appreciates that we've been true to her vision. When we have a celebration, we're not only celebrating our new business, but 4 years of hard work that Kelly put into the business we all love. And, if the 'haters' would come into the store, maybe you will realize that it's still 'Your One Stop Rockabilly and Punk Rock Store. '
Thanks for listening!
