Official Statement
After six months of hiatus Fruit Punch has decided to reunite. There has been a void in my life since June 28th(the last show that Drake Played with Fruit Punch). I feel that that was the last day that Fruit Punch was truly what we were meant to be. We started this band to make people aware that we would never back down no matter how much hate was thrown our way. This band was a voice for queer kids who had no voice. A voice for all kids who had no voice. I wanted to do it for a person who was close to me, who got disowned for coming out of the closet. I wanted to do it for all of my queer friends who had ever been wronged by ignorant homophobic assholes. Myself and Drake started this band with those common goals in mind. Unfortunately somewhere during our short existence this goal was lost, and Drake felt that it was time to leave the band. I was bitter about this for a while, but now I understand where the fall out was. I truly respect Drake as a person and a musician. Drake was easily one of the top 5 bassist I had ever seen, and out shined everyone who tried to fill his shoes. There was a point were I considered Drake not only a band mate but a great friend and I miss that, and would give anything to have that friend ship back. If you read this Drake, I want you to know that I’m sorry for anything I ever did to ruin our friendship, and I know that my personal family problems that were going on at the time, were no excuse to throw away what we had. I fully understand now why you couldn’t tour like I wanted to. Again I’m sorry. After Drake left the band, Fruit Punch played a few last shows that were as far from what we were supposed to be as you can get. My eyes were so clogged with hatred and bitterness from personal family issues and band issues that I forgot what this band represented. Which caused the inevitable break up. During our break up, myself and Jordan have recorded 22 songs for our upcoming discography, that are easily the best recordings I have ever been apart of, and arguable the best hardcore recordings to come out of Philadelphia since the Limp Wrist / Kill The Man Who Questions days. We still have about 20 more songs to record, but it will be available at our first show back(hopefully this summer). I wanted to thank everyone who ever helped us out. A couple really big shout outs. The whole Queer Control Record Crew(without you guys, we would never have truly found ourselves), Every one from Worcester MA(we love you guys), My Dad(for being supportive of every decision I have ever made in my life), and all of our fans who have hassled us to get back together since we broke up. Now that we are back, it is my personal goal to finish what we started. We will be known, and we wont be stopped. Were taking on homophobes and racists one by one.
Our line up is currently all messed up, and if your looking to play guitar in Fruit Punch, email xxcheeseinpa@yahoo.com or hit us up on www.myspace.com/fruitxpunch
