THIS CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.  THE WINNER WILL BE ANNOUNCED IN MY NEXT BLOG TO BE POSTED ON JUNE 9TH.  A SPECIAL THANKS GOES OUT TO EVERYONE WHO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO PARTICIPATING IN THE FANSPACE CONTEST NUMBER TWO.    THANKS EVERYBODY!

-CHRIS

Finally, it's time for me to host the second ever Dean Koontz Fanspace contest.  The first contest took place March 21st, 2008.  For those who missed it, here's the link to that first contest:

http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=182744383&blogId=369038322

Yeah, I know.  I have waited long enough to do another giveaway, haven't I?

Alright already!  But before we get this show on the road, let me toss up the cover art for Dean's November 24th, 2009 release.

Photobucket

Now, most of you already know that Dean's new hardback, Relentless, is right around the corner (due out June 9th).  So, I figured I'd give everyone at least a few weeks to participate in this simple little contest for a chance to win a free copy.

Photobucket

Synopsis:

#1 New York Times bestselling master of suspense Dean Koontz delivers a mesmerizing new thriller that explores the razor-thin line between the best and worst of human nature—and the anarchy simmering just beneath society’s surface—as a likeable, successful family man is drawn into a confrontation with a foe of unimaginable malice….

Bestselling novelist Cullen “Cubby” Greenwich is a lucky man and he knows it. He makes a handsome living doing what he enjoys. His wife, Penny, a children’s book author and illustrator, is the love of his life. Together they have a brilliant six-year-old, Milo, affectionately dubbed “Spooky,” and a non-collie named Lassie, who’s all but part of the family.

So Cubby knows he shouldn’t let one bad review of his otherwise triumphant new book get to him—even if it does appear in the nation’s premier newspaper and is penned by the much-feared, seldom-seen critic, Shearman Waxx. Cubby knows the best thing to do is ignore the gratuitously vicious, insulting, and inaccurate comments. Penny knows it, even little Milo knows it. If Lassie could talk, she’d tell Cubby to ignore them, too.

Ignore Shearman Waxx and his poison pen is just what Cubby intends to do. Until he happens to learn where the great man is taking his lunch. Cubby just wants to get a look at the mysterious recluse whose mere opinion can make or break a career—or a life.

But Shearman Waxx isn’t what Cubby expects; and neither is the escalating terror that follows what seemed to be an innocent encounter. For Waxx gives criticism; he doesn’t take it. He has ways of dealing with those who cross him that Cubby is only beginning to fathom. Soon Cubby finds himself in a desperate struggle with a relentless sociopath, facing an inexorable assault on far more than his life.

Fearless, funny, utterly compelling, Relentless is Dean Koontz at his riveting best, an unforgettable tale of the fragile bonds that hold together all that we most cherish—and of those who would tear those bonds asunder.

So...

What do you have to do?  Simple, just take a picture of yourself holding up your FAVORITE Dean Koontz book and then post it right here in this very blog.  YES, yes I stole this idea from Larry over at the Constant Reader - Stephen King Fansite!  :P  "Thanks again Larry!" I yell as I take your idea and run like . . . the wind?

Here, let me start with a picture of my own.  I stepped away from the computer just long enough to take a quick snapshot, upload it, and then post it.  Yep, in the background, you will see I'm working on this blog.  =)

Photobucket

Yes, the rumors are true.  I'm not really Dean.  (Now...before getting all critical of your moderator, I've had a long day and haven't even been home long enough to raid the fridge yet, just in case your first thought upon looking at my mug is "Ewwww.")

Easy peasy.  Now, for those who are not quite versed with pasting your own pictures onto Myspace, let me give a quick tutorial.  Those who already know how to do this, just skip the next part and start posting some pics here in this blog!  =)

Okay, once you have your picture uploaded onto your computer, go over to http://photobucket.com/.  This is how I upload every single picture you see on the Fanspace (even though there are other image hosting sites), so I will use this site as my example.

Now go ahead and create an account.  Don't worry, it's FREE with no hassle.  Once you have your account created, click on my albums located near the top within the blue menu options.  From there, where it says "upload images & video," click on choose files highlighted in blue, which will allow you to browse for your picture on your computer.  Make sure you know where you saved your picture!  Now, once you have found the file for the pic you want to use, double click on it and Photobucket will begin uploading it.

Once the pic is securely uploaded into your Photobucket album, find the HTML code displayed underneath that pic, "right click" on it to copy it, then come back here and paste the HTML code in your reply to this blog.  And your pic will show up!

Feel free to add anything else you would like to your post with your pic.

This contest will end June 7th, just two days before this book is released, at which time I will randomly select a winner from the entries posted here in this blog, acquire their mailing address and then send them a copy of Relentless "hopefully" just in time for it to arrive on release day...

Good luck everyone!  I look forward to seeing those pics coming in!

Chris (your friendly neighborhood moderator)

You have pretty eyes mr. moderator. Here's my pic...in my pj's with messy lounging on the couch hair. Fear Nothing is my fav also...but this book is in better condition, otherwise I would have taken a pic with both of them. Oh yes and if you couldn't tell from the background I am a bit of a Mickey Mouse fanatic.

My all time favorite Dean Koontz novel is Whispers! It's absolutely amazing! I've read almost every single book he's written, so it was hard to decide. I just finished Odd Hours (AWESOME, F.Y.I). I was meant to read his books because he uses a form of my name in every one...My name is Ambrosia by the way ;)

Ooh! Cold Fire was the first Koontz I've ever read! It's definately one of my faves.

Photobucket

I couldn't decide which of these was my favorite. And most Dean Koontz I've read was all library books... so I only own a few that I picked up from thrift stores and garage sales... otherwise I'd have the Odd Thomas books in the picture too... and probably Cold Fire, and The Bad Place, and Sole Survivor, Dark Rivers of the Hear,t, and Phantoms, and..... :)

Two of my favorites also, Watchers and Midnight.  I got the Pico Mundo mug and Green Moon Bowling Lanes Tshirt at the Dean Koontz web site store.

This was tough, it's very hard to choose just one!! "Odd Thomas" won out because my copy of "From the Corner of His Eye" is a paperback, a little worn, and quite frankly, just not as pretty. :o)

Favorite DK Book!!

Well, I may not be the best looking DK reader in here... I see a couple of ya *wink wink*... but my 24th b-day is June 1st, so it'd be a cool prezzy.

That being said, I decided to go with Odd Hours.

I don't have any way to post a picture...... no camera. :-( So I guess that leaves me out of the contest, but that's okay. ;-) It is a great idea for a contest, though. :-D Kudos!! Anyway, my all-time favorite Dean Koontz novel is Watchers. Have a great day!! :-)

I don't have a picture of me holding my favorite book, but I am currently reading Demon Seed, the 1997 edition. Proteus is a bipolar computer system!!! That's all I'm going to get into because if you have read that version, I won't get into anymore of the book. The A.I. is fucking creepy.
