Les Paul - June 9, 1915 to August 13, 2009
We were all deeply saddened to hear of Les Paul's death today at the age of 94.
As you might know, Les Paul guitars have always been Waddy Wachtel's preferred instrument, so I thought I'd take a moment here to pay tribute to one of the world's greatest pioneers of Rock 'n' Roll.
Les Paul created one of the first solid-body electric guitars in 1941. He teamed up with Gibson in the early 50's, and the first Les Paul guitars hit the market in 1952. It became one of the best-selling guitars in the world.
Most people know that, and about the fact that he and his wife Mary Ford teamed up to write some hit tunes in the 40's and 50's.
Here are some other things about him you might not know......
Les Paul developed the concept of multi-track recording which revolutionized the music industry.
When Les Paul's arm was broken in a car accident many years ago, he had the doctor set his arm with the elbow bent - so he could still play guitar.
Les Paul was all about music - and his life echoed his dedication to not only continue enjoying what he loved best, but to provide the means to other musicians to realize their dreams as well.
Les Paul may be gone from this world now, but he left all of us so many delightful things to treasure. And....... we can still rock 'n' roll with all of them!
Everyone in the Waddy Wachtel Band says a big thank you to ....
Les Paul!!!!!!
