Hi everyone! I'm so happy you came to visit my myspace page. I am now only using this blog to write. Blogspot is much easier to use and what I like most is that anyone can comment there, no membership required. Come on over for a visit. But in the meantime I thought I'd update you a bit on my writing progress.
In July I attended the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association conference. A couple of agents were interested so I sent them the requested materials. Next, I need to print off chapters and have my father proof-read them. We've already completed the first three chapters. He found something that I never would have known. It had to do with the way I described straffing (shooting). It's one of those things that I asked him, I researched and I still got it wrong. That's why I need him. I find it difficult to write from someone elses memories. I don't have that picture in my mind of the whole scene.
I've also just finished reading, 1,001 Ways to Market Your Book and The Frugal Book Promoter. I have lots and lots of ideas when I finally get to that point. And some of those I've already started on.
I've also been working on advancing my freelance (magazine writing) career. I started freelancing in April and have learned a lot. And the great thing is...I've had a few successes. And as they say, success breeds success. Plus, I'm making a (very) little bit of money.
Among others, I will have an article about the history of our local, Pioneer Park published in the Mid-Columbian, but the release date hasn't been set yet. I've had an article on Osteoporosis published at TheSavvyGal.com and in December my story, "A Dose of Compassion" will be published in Chicken Soup for the Nurses Soul. I also have an article called, "Take Back the Night" in the current issue of Bleech magazine; it's a teen magazine. Bleech is my first national magazine to be published in so that is very exciting for me!
I'm feeling good about the position I'm in right now. I'm writing, being creative and loving it all. I have accepted a challenge to blog (journal) every day in September, so come visit me there.
