dudes, we just wanted to make clear a few rules and guidelines we try to work by here at the living room.
FOR EVERYONE: -Don’t fight...or scream at each other like you wanna fight but probably won’t. One thing we truly, truly hate at the living room is violence of any kind so if you bring it in, you probably won’t be welcome back. plus, if you fight, we will likely have to close the doors for good, thats just the way things work. -no smoking or alcohol or drugs inside or around the building at all. also, try to be sober when you come, yes that means everyone. we arent trying to force our beliefs on you, but stuff like that tends to breed disrespect, and we arent about that.
for bookers: -we don’t do guaruntees. if a booker wants to do a guaruntee and then make up the difference if it isn’t made at the door, good luck -we split the door with the road bands 50/50. -we don’t just rent out our building. we won’t do anything without our staff there. -no more than four bands on a show. we have a curfew of ten p.m. that it is very hard to stick to if there are more than four bands, no matter how short their set is, ask sam. -only touring bands can get paid. sorry, yocals, but we got bills to pay. -bands can load in at 6 pm and the show starts at 7 pm. -don’t add bands without telling gonzo. -if you want to book a show, get 3 or 4 bands together and contact gonzo, BUT ONLY AFTER YOU HAVE A LINE UP. -we don’t do shows on sundays, so don’t worry about asking. -if you have questions, ask gonzo, the answer will be no, just kidding. -dont’ book bands that like violence, of any kind.
for bands: -load in at 6pm. if you’re too cool for that, at least be there and loaded in before 7 pm. -don’t break things. especially not cardboard stand ups of steve irwin. -vocalists, don’t twirl the mic around by the cord unless you have your own or you want to buy ours from us. besides, that dude from saves the day did that in that one video and he isnt cool anymore. -don’t say things like "let’s f*** sh** on this next one" or "I wanna see someone get punched in the face!!!" for two reasons: 1. it makes you sound like you are in disturbed or slipknot or some other marginally untalented numetal band and 2. we never want people to "f*** sh**" or to get punched in the face in our building.
MOST OF ALL: please just respect each other and try to show each other some love. more than just giving people a place to play their music and show their art, we are trying to bring positive change to the community by getting people to not just tolerate each other but love each other because, we believe, that is what’s wrong with things right now.
Peace and love
