For those of you that came from my personal blog
Thanks : )
Now onto business
We did the ACS Relay fundraiser show this weekend. We had a blast and I have the sunburn to prove I was there... We played for about 90 minutes in the afternoon and we had a grand old time.
From the beginning. We arrived around 10 a.m. to start setting up. We had a nice central location on the track walked by the relayers. We finished setting up and discovered that we had forgotten to grab an extension chord to run to a power outlet. Fortunately they were able to supply us with one. We then did soundcheck, after soundcheck I got out of the sun for a bit and sat in the library. We sat around waiting to perform. About ten minuted before we went on we went back out and I saw that two people had signed our mailing list before we had even played a note! Very flattering. I was getting really excited about the gig. The dj who was there came over and made sure that he pronounced our name correctly, which he did. We then had a lot of fun for 90 minuted playing a whole slew of songs about drinking rebelling and others.
A couple notes about the show. I saw a young lady dressed in a Pirate costume and asked her to identify Grog for us. They were selling Grog at their table (not the Water and Rum version) It was a fruit drink which was very good (we had some after the show) So I want to thank Leanne for coming up and explaining what grog was. We also had people walking by dancing to the tunes were playing. There is nothing quite so cool as seeing people enjoy what you do. Thanks to all of you! After the show was finished I talked with one of the organizers. We talked a little about the importance of the charity. Very simply everyone is touched by cancer. I know people who have died from it, I know a survivor (she plays in the band) and I have to give her credit for having the strength to carry on against something that can be deadly. I guarantee you know someone who has had cancer and/or died from it. The research being done by the ACS has saved countless live and will save many more.
Now on to the band updates. We have a few shows coming up and would love to see your smiling faces so come on out and have a good time with us!
We are currently recording our debut CD which will be called "Good Drinking Weather" We appropriated the title from the MetalKelt project. We liked the title so much Ar Eigean Gael is going to use it. The CD will feature a lot of drinking songs and a few originals that I have written.
Thanks to Marc Gunn for granting us permission to record his song "The Leprechaun" Marc I think you will like our arrangement of it.
