Before Matt Suhey was Roland Harper, he deserves at least an honorable mention.

Otis Wilson, solid player in the 4-6 zone.

Les Fraizer, lets not forget until he was injured the 4-6 was untouchable.

You definitely need to put Doug Plank, the 46 defense was named after his . Don't forget Steve McMichael. Anyway, there's been 42 superbowls since the beginning - there's only been TWO quarterbacks who ever took us there. Both of them deserve a spot, even if it's last place. You know who I'm talking about.

I can't believe you added Jim McMahon... he was a good qb with a great line and and even better defence that made him seem better that what he realy was. Good... yes ... one the the greatest... NO!

McMahon was an awesome QB, alright not one of the greatest all time, but in my opinion he hardly had a chance! He only played a few seasons with da bears until his contract expired - most of these he was out through injury - but he was a player who understood a defense and how to play it. He could adapt in a split second, had an amazing arm, with accuracy and he had the guts to stand up and try something new, daring or downright outrageous. I may not have been born for superbowl XX but I have the playoff tapes from the Channel 4 (UK) broadcasts, I just wish I had more footage of our punky QB.
Yes he had a great line, but your defense doesn't count for anything when you're on your own 20 within the 2 minute warning...

Keep Jim there, he gets precious little recognition as it is!

One of the greatest of all time? No
One of the greatest BEARS player? Yes. As that one guy said... "Anyway, there's been 42 superbowls since the beginning - there's only been TWO quarterbacks who ever took us there. Both of them deserve a spot, even if it's last place. You know who I'm talking about."

Hi,
two names that I think should be on the list...Willie Galimore and Harlon Hill.

Willie Galimore was in my opinion the Walter Payton of his day.Galimore played for Da Bears from 1957-63,the fast little halfback (nicknamed "Gallopin' Gal" ) career was cut short in 1964, perishing in a car crash with a teammate John "Bo" Farrington during the Bears' training camp that summer.
If he hadnt have died,he would have been up there with the all time best halfbacks in the NFL.

Harlon Hill played for Da Bears 1954-61,won the Rookie of the Year in 1954,the league's most valuable player in 1955, and a three-time All-Pro selection (1954-1956).Hill has to be one of the best WR's we have every had and could stand with the T.O's and the Moss's of todays game.Sadly the small town boy found the fast life of a big city to much to distraction and the partying and the injury's started to take a toll.
The Harlon Hill Trophy is given annually to the most outstanding player in Division II football.

rex had less to do with getting to the superbowl than the water boy. i am sorry but a medicre quarterback, regardless of the superbowl trip is not worthy to be on a list with walter payton, who is most definitely the greatest!
payton! the fridge, brian piccolo, gale sayers, dick butkus... and curent you have to include devin hester and brian urlacher, and what about brad maynard and i will be damned if i can remember the other kickers name but he doesn't miss so add him!!! :o)

Walter "Sweetness" Payton. No Bears player had more impact or was such a nightmare for opponents. Every time Walter played, all the other players looked like they were moving in slow motion compared to him.

Dent is a close 2nd and if Hester keeps going the way he has been, he's going to be up there.

Don't forget about Kevin Butler. It seems we have a 50/50 split between those who think Grossman deserves a spot on that list and those who want to string him up. He may have been a so-so quarterback for the 2006 Bears but had he been playing on a team that would've actually blocked for him like they blocked for McMahon, the 2007 New England Patriots would've been the SECOND team in history to make a 19-0 season (pending the outcome of the game). Grossman at least deserves a spot, give him an asterisk if it'll make people happy.

How about another few currents: Olin Kreutz, Tommie Harris, and I'll second the Tom Thayer vote. If Olin and Tommie can be considered elite among the players in the league, why not among the best of Bears history?

I think all us veteran Bears fan such as yourself should put a word in here and there in defense of Rex Grossman. I'm sure you have a vivid memory of how crappy McMahon really WAS. These kids and even young adults seem to have no idea. All they think is HE won us the superbowl. They dont remember the games that McMahon threw all the turnovers, hmm sound like anyone else? Well I guess I need to open up say Rex Grossman has been a great QB for DA BEARS.
