To our surprise and gratitude, Director Ted Passon's "Dopeness" video , for the super rap – not rap- rap group Plastic Little, has been gaining a bit of attention. Stereogum has just posted an insightful interview with Ted Passon on their website. Here is an excerpt from the interview:
"I think the actual birthing turned out looking better than I thought it would. It's funny cause I never thought it would look so gnarly. In my mind it was kind of cute but we probably went a bit overboard with the "birth fluids." I didn't really intend to use the takes with the fluid but when you're in a situation where you're having fun getting to put gross shit all over your friends' heads it's easy to get carried away."

"I had never done such complicated long takes before (as you may have noticed the video is actually three shots put together in an attempt to look like one shot) and we did each shot about 25 times before we got it right (not counting rehearsals) – except for the last shot which we only did about 10 times, but I probably would have done more if we had had more time."

"But before you fire me, Mother Jones, please hear me out: it's all done in such a spirit of surreal and silly fun, it's hard to be offended, and if it was a French short film and not a rap video you'd be putting it in a museum."

"This shit was so disturbing to my macho heterosexuality that I pretty much dusted off the Screw CDs and listened to nothing but bass heavy gangsta shit for a week, usually with a tall can of Negro Modelo in my lap, riding around just trying to wash the f eeling of faggotry out my earlobes."
Many Thanks to whole cast and crew who worked on the video! To read more about the many different roles that had to be filled, check out
