Current mood: evil
In the bloated and mostly boring 50th anniversary Grammy night, two acts stood out. The Foo Fighters turned in a powerful, passionate performance (with an orchestra conducted by Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones), of their song "The Pretender". Their wins for Best Rock Album and best hard rock performance further cements their place in hard-rock history (the new record "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace is fantastic work and they are kicking ass with a two hour plus show on tour right now).
Amy Winehouse, made the show worthwhile with a stellar performance of "Rehab". She is a true original (any women with a 'high sailor" tattoo on her belly is already a winner). She authentically looked stunned with her wins for best new artist, record of the year, song of the year, and best pop vocal performance. Her album Back to Black is a kick in the pants worthy of a spot in your collection. (now that Amy is popular the door may open for another quirky, gal who makes must hear original music, Rachelle Garniez http://www.rachellegarniez.com)
In other show highlights Tina Turner and Beyonce did their best to imitate two drag queens doing a Tina tribute.
Herbi Hancock took home the first best album Grammy in 43 years for a jazz musician.
Rock 'em alive,
Chris
