THE MAN IN THE GLASS

When you get what you want in your struggle for self

and the world makes you king for a day,

Just go to the mirror and look at yourself

and see what that man has to say.

For it isn't your father or mother or wife

whose judgment upon you must pass.

The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life

is the one staring back from the glass.

You may be like Jack Horner and chisel a plum

and think you're a wonderful guy.

But the man in the glass says you're only a bum

if you can't look him straight in the eye.

He's the fellow to please - never mind  the rest,

for he's with you clear to the end.

And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test

if the man in the glass is your friend.

You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years

and get pats on the back as you pass.

But your final reward will be heartache and tears

if you've cheated the man in the glass.

Hi Lorrayne,

I didn't write this. I think the author is unknown. However, it is how I live my life. It works. Thanks for the comment... Whats new for you...

Well Rod, this is an excelent blueprint for life. Yes, indeed it does work. It reminds me of the song, the words are "Every generation blames the one before". It is my belief that regardless of how you were raised, and what the circumstances are - it is the past. As an adult we choose our destiny, our life is exactly what we have choosen. We have the ability, and if the desire to create life, and look at the journey of life to make the world a better place. It is so correct that we must first be our own best friend, be true to ourself, love ones self and not cheat ourself. Then we can look into our mirror, and be the reflection for others.

As for me all is well. I am working on setting up a LLC and a non-profit. My passion in life is people and to continue to make a difference in the lives of others - One of my goals is to assist with our wounded verterans and their families.

Dream - Inspire - and Make a Difference
