Post gig review:
This turned out to be a great show. Most of the acts really worked hard on getting people to this show and helping us make a buzzing night out. A special Big thanks to our friends The Butterflies, The Bron Yr Aurs (who had an amazing following considering they are from Hull), and Revelin Sky who all worked hard on their promotion. The other acts probably could have done better, but thanks for playing all the same.
This was however a difficult show, there was some pressure on us to hit a substantial minimum bar spend set by the venue (the equivalent of us saying to the bands 'if you dont bring 20 people then we'll charge you £100 - it aint a nice pressure to have). its not ideal to work within these kind of pressures and does kind of feel a little bit corporate. Money making is not the only reason why we do these shows. After all if we were proper business people we'd be doing much bigger events than this eg. Camden Crawl or a corporate festival. Also tonight we had to make some concessions on the sound too which was not ideal and our sound guys worked hard to make it sound reasonable on the night (big thanks to them). The staff here were pretty ace, very helpful and topped of by the lovliest doormen who the punters just loved. Overall the venue was well run although there were quite a few grumbles at the £4 a pint prices.
The acts all seemed to have a decent time tonight, and from the crowds reaction stumbling out the door, thought it was a worth the entrance fee. and another comment - 'there were some lovely ladies that came to see the bands tonight'. 9/10
LOVE!!
