Today was the start of an amazing journey for me and a new direction. The Dreams and I met up at Saks Fifth Avenue for our very first fitting. We spent half of the day trying on shoes and dresses for our press events this week. They had gorgeous beautifully colored gowns and sexy little black dresses. They told us to try on everything and put aside anything we like on one rack. I found some great pieces ya'll. Mmmmmm......:)

So, before we started all the trying on William Ivy Long, the Costume Designer introduced himself to us all and he pulled out  his lovely stash of sketches for the show. They were to die for. I felt like a kid. I was at the edge of my seat, because I just got "the bestest news in dee wurld"...lol Just so you all know William is a Tony Award-winning costume designer for stage and film. His most notable work includes The Producers, Hairspray, Nine, Crazy for You, Grey Gardens and Young Frankenstein. The costumes are absolutely stunning. I can't wait to get into all of them. We have sooooooo many changes ya'll it's crazy!!!!!  But it's all good with me...lol

So after his very detailed and fabulous intro. we tried on everything. They had jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Prada, and all sorts of fancy dresses. We all were prancing around in the mirror like Dreamgirls..... :) We took pictures in every look for the wardrobe team and that was that.

Afterwards Moya (Effie) and I grabbed a bite to eat at Chipotle and the manager explained to us that Chipotle is different from all the other branches similar to it, because their meat is farmed raised and the food is 30% organic....yeh so...30% organic? I think she could have left out that detail...lol
So, off to rehearsal we went. We rehearsed "Dreamgirls", "One Night Only" and "Listen" the new song added to the show. It will be a duet between Deena and Effie with new lyrics. All the songs we went over are for all the press this week.

All the excitement got me exhausted so, I walked back to my hotel finished my 30% Organic Chipotle and took a much needed nap.

Overall today was a good day. It was nice getting to meet the wardrobe team and William. And of course I enjoyed hanging out with my girls. We were able to get some bonding time. They all are extremely talented and fun to be around. Loves it!!! My day starts early again tomorrow.....I look forward to it.

Please stay posted to this blog section as I will be updating you all on everything. Once my OFFICIAL SITE goes up www.syeshaonline.com I will post my blogs there, until then you can read all my updates here folks! :)

Quotes of the day:

"30% Organic" ...lol

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"

"Treat others with respect always"

"See the innocence in others even when they are in the wrong"

"When you think about the future visualize your wants and all the good you want to happen. The reality that you create first starts in the mind."

"When others don't respond how you wish show love and kindness"

Good Morning, Good Evening, and Goodnight folks. Love you all!

Aw, I wish you took pics of those pieces you put aside! I love looking at fashion in the sense of art. It's soo pretty. And seriously, clothes are a girl's best friend! Am I riiiight? LOL! Oh! William Ivy Long! i heard about him in this article about Edith Head. She use to do all the costumes for the black and white movies back in the day - costumes for like Hitchcock films, Capra, etc. She was really good at her work and I remember a mention of Long saying how he looked at her pieces for inspiration. I think it was an article in Vanity Fair.

Aww, I really want to see you as a Dreamgirl! Gawd! I wish you guys would have brought the show to Toronto too - and not like later on, when the show arrives here and there's a new cast. Nah-uh! I hate when that happens! I only really want to see you, lol! Plus, I can imagine you singing Listen perfectly because you sang it last year on the tour most beautifully! And LMAO at the 30% organic. That scares me! What's in the remaining 70%! That's bothersome! ..

Btw, I love this quote: ""When you think about the future visualize your wants and all the good you want to happen. The reality that you create first starts in the mind" and I couldn't agree more. Syesha darling, you need to come out with a quote book! OMG! How about a Chicken Soup for the Syesha-Loving Souls: Quotes Edition? 'Cause seriously girl, I love how you get your quotes! I love reading quotes and really understanding them. The ones that make you go, "hmmmm?" are great! Like the one you mentioned! :)

Wanna hear a quote from me? I made it up when my sister was in the hospital up till last week and it goes like this, "A life fulfilled isn't worth anything, if you haven't suffered for it". Pretty deep right? I know. It went over my sister's head. But that's besides the point. You gotta give a little, to get a lot. Oooh. That's another one.

OMG! I wrote soo much again. Gawwwd. I ramble. BUT I LOVE YOU AND HAVE FUN! ..

xoxo
Tania

Hello Syesha!
Wow. What a track record for you so far....first we folks in the small world of Manatee County watches one of our local talets shine on national television; now you're about to star in a famous broadway musical. Although I do not know you personally, I must say that I am soo proud of you and all that you've accomplished. You're beautiful, smart, driven, and I'm sure very muched loved. What you're doing now is touching so many lives, including mine. I have aspirations that often times seem to large to even imagine, but all things are possible through Jesus Christ. Please do keep up the good work. When is the show going to be? I'm going to be doing some traveling in New York City and Atlanta, Ga this fall. It would be nice to check out the show and see you do your thang while I'm in the area :0)
You be blessed Syesha. Please let me know the information if you have it. Thank you for taking the time to read. Have a sparkling day!

Ashlee
