Hey guys,
Yes, you're right, it doesn't make much sense to respond to CD reviews or even comment on them, as unfair as they may be a lot of times. Unfortunately it's a fact that the writers rarely understand and appreciate what you actually want to do.
But recently one of them really made me doubt. I'm not gonna tell you where or who this guy was, anyway the review was from a self-proclaimed 100% pure country music fan. You know, the kind that checks every record whether it's enough country, before he decides if it's appropriate for him to like it.
So in his review of my FITP record, he starts by repeating some information on the group, which he quotes from my press release. Fair enough. Then he goes on saying that he can't hear the country influences that I claim to have, and based on this fact, he has to award me - for the first time in his career - the lowest possible rating.
Make sure you've got this right: he hasn't said one single negative point yet about my record, not even really tried describing what it sounds like: His only point is, he can't hear the country influences (so there can't be any?). Well, I'm not judging him if he only likes country-country, but from someone who's writing CD reviews, you'd certainly expect a little more oversight.
Now how's that for an unfair review? Is it fair if you get reviewed not based on what you are, but completely on what you aren't. OMG, what an arrogant and self-righteous dumbbell. Leave me alone and get a life.
