Current mood: contemplative
Alright alright, so its been maybe a year and 2 months later, counting from our first show, and arguably longer if you count the month or so we spent writing the songs. (And however long Danielle spent writing songs we used from her previous solo writing). To get to the point, we have been actively playing around Boston and extending ourselves out into close regions and not so close regions and it felt like a time to reflect upon what we've accomplished and what's gone wrong. This is going to be longer than I think anyone reading this far would like it to be but I make no apologies.
May 26th 2007 was our first show at the All Asia. It was the first time I'd met the two openers (okay so I met Sophie at Open Mic a few days prior but I didn't KNOW them) Sophie Innerfield and Lifejacket. People who at the time were total strangers are now like old friends. We played 3 shows that summer with drummer Alayna Hughes before we mutually decided it was best to part ways. James Harkins of This Building's on Fire helped us out with the 2 shows we had booked at the Pussycat Lounge in NYC and the Baseball Tavern in Boston while we searched for a new permanent drummer.
That search took us from June to November where after our show August 3rd at the Baseball Tavern we took a 4 month break before playing our first show with new drummer Eric Kogelschatz on Cape Cod at the Black Spot Cafe December 7th.
Since January of 2008 we have been playing 2-3 shows a month in the Boston and NYC area whoring ourselves out around town playing at O'Brien's, Sally O'Brien's, the Abbey Lounge, the Milky Way, PA's Lounge, Plough & Stars, Charlie's Kitchen, Mideast Upstairs, Great Scott, and finally this month at TT the Bear's. (Not to mention the house shows and live radio appearances on WMFO and WMBR). We've traveled to Cape Cod, NYC, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, and Northampton. Managed a 10 day midwest tour to Detroit, Chicago, Madison, St Louis, Bloomington, Dayton, NYC, and Providence. We've recorded a 5 song EP "The Histone Code" and are preparing for a new release to be recorded next month.
Its been a really wild year. Its become something I don't think any of us ever expected it to become and at times something more than we can handle. While preparing for this new release we'll be harder to find than we used to be (although cutting down to 1 show a month is hardly disappearing). We want to thank everyone that has helped and supported us over the past year, it means the world to us. We have met some of the most amazing musicians and people, and have been lucky enough to share a stage with them (and hopefully will again soon). We look forward to seeing you all and sorry if we have missed anyone.
