Not so long ago, in a land far, far away, Neon Sarcastic was sitting around having a few drinks at a rock club called "Mosh", the idea to start a band was introduced. Whatever happened to the idea that drinking causes bad decision making? This decision turned out to be a great one.
Calling themselves "the happiest band in Leicester", NS likes to have a good time and contagiously put on a great show and create good times for their fans. Neon Sarcastic, who doesn't really remember how their name came about (It wasn't the drinks!) just says that they preferred not to follow the tradtional "The" fill in the blank type of band. They wanted something "bright and witty." That's a great way to describe their music. John, Jack, Jamie, Bryce, and Abbot have a unique style that some compare to Blink-182 and the early days of New Found Glory as well as the band Busted. Their songs "Cheer Up Emo" and "Do You Remember" display the talent that lies within this fivesome of music/party guru's.
Their unique style stems from a wide array of musical influences ranging from classic rock legends Thin Lizzy, to Busted, Fightstar, and Enter Shikari, their brand comes in assorted flavors.
When asked about what the most exciting thing about being musicians is, they said, "Playing live is the biggest buzz ever!" That's what fuels their fire. They play anywhere from small venues to festivals. "We played a festival called Glastonbudget this year which was amazing. There were so many people there and the set went down really well too." Neon Sarcastic thrives off of energy from the crowd and are the ones who get them energized in the first place. That's what this fivesome is all about.
With upbeat vocals, swift drum beats, and finger lickin' good guitar/bass play, these guys are sure to impress.
When asked about what it's like to share their past with their fans through their music, they humorously responded with, "It's kinda crazy. It's funny when your friends say, "Is that song about that time we stole a monkey from the zoo (or something like that?!?!) ha-ha." For some reason I get the impression this would be a fun bunch to be associated with.
Not everything in life goes according to plan. The same can be said about their live shows. Some entertaining things that have happened include: Microphones failing, broken guitar strings, wandering drums, good jokes, BAD jokes, and they also wanted to include, "Once we invited another band on stage with us to sing a song with us! Half naked sets... You know the usual! Ha-ha." So if you love good comical fun, see them live!
Satisfaction is a big part of everyday life. It always feels good to have a sense of accomplishment. "When someone says they really enjoyed a song or a performance. It means a lot and you never get tired of it!", NS answered when I asked them what the most satisfying part of being a musician is.
In terms of their music, they have many goals. "I would say the short term goal is prepare to record an awesome album in April and make sure every song is the best that we can do." I know I can't wait to hear their new material. "The long term goal is to keep writing music and keep enjoying it", is what they had to say about their future.
Some other random tidbits of information about their lives outside of music are that they enjoy hitting up the town and also playing sports.
What is something that a lot of people don't know about you guys? "We can actually be semi-serious… You just have to really lucky to see it!", they implied in a comical manner.
I asked them where their overall amazingness comes from and they said in disbelief, "Probably from each other!" It's true, they are pretty fantastic. They like to describe themselves as "Mischievous." That's a spot on description.
On a closing not, lets hear what they have to say about their fans. "They are amazing. Nothing better than when you see them singing along to your songs or dancing like crazy!"
