I am so sad to hear of Mary's passing and I am also sad that it happened with barely a whisper of it through the MEDIA!
Apparently not controversial enough in life to warrant the coverage.
Mary Travers was certainly one of my favorite singers throughout my entire life.. spanning more then 40 years.
Another 40 would not have been enough.
I am a singer myself and was
PRIVELEDGED to be included on a compilation CD with Mary just recently. It is a fundraiser for Leukemia and Lymphoma called " As Long as Im here" Most of us on it are either survivors of some form of Cancer as I am or have been touched very closely by Cancer with a Family member.
Mary passing from the side effects of Chemo administered to fight
her re-occurring leukemia, sadly makes Three of those performers now that have moved on since the CD was put together.
I would like to believe that theirs is the ULTIMATE Win over the Disease and that now they are Cancer Free.
I Hope Her legacy lives on in all of us that can still share her music with the JOY and GRATITUDE for having received it!
Our prayers are with those that LOVED her and for those who will have to find some way to fill the impossibly large and Gaping hole they must now have in their lives.
There will only be one Mary.
So blessed we were to have all been here at the Same time to benefit from the gift of her life and music.
WE will be having a
MARY TRAVERS MEMORIAL CONCERT and
CD RELEASE
BENEFIT
here at the CROW for
"As Long as Im Here"
More info to come soon.
For those who are not aware they were touched by Mary and Her Music
