Current mood: melancholy
Hi everyone
You may have read that the Leg have had to pull out of the remaining Alter Bridge support shows due to my worsening upper respiratory and throat infection. I've been struggling with the illness throughout the tour but as of today I've totally lost my voice.
I'm gutted that we've had to pull out. I actually believe that we were starting to get through to the crowds, particularly at Brixton where there were large pockets of support for the Leg. Obviously some of the footage looks and sounds hostile but that's only because a boo resonates more than a cheer, and there were some naughty boys and girls throwing things.
The experience of touring with Alter Bridge and Logan has been really positive - the guys from both bands have been really friendly and supportive. I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we'd do it all again in a split second.
Don't forget that The Darkness supported Disturbed in 2003 at Brixton Academy. Now THAT was a hostile crowd, one hundred times more violent and abusive than the Alter Bridge/Logan crowd and we still finished our set and came out to meet our adoring public with smiles on our faces. Predictably, they were somewhat less aggressive when we met them face to face.
As far as I'm concerned the booing was playful participation in an ill-conceived rock billing. We had a great laugh and we certainly got people talking. I like to think we were the marmite in an Alter Bridge and Logan sandwich! I'm only sorry we couldn't be there for the remaining dates.
Thanks again for your warm messages of support. I'm resting now and I'm on the mend.
Justin x
