Over thirty years! That’s how long I’ve been traveling, doing my job, helping people to laugh, shining a little light in the darkness. Throughout most of those years my schedule has been frantic but not right now…not this month. For the first time in three decades I have a month without a booking. Though I’m enjoying the rest I’d be having more fun had I planned it this way.

It’s ironic that in a time when people have a greater than normal need of laughter they can’t afford it. Understandably, it’s hard for them to justify paying a comedian good money when half their company, congregation, town is out of work. I may be exaggerating but times ARE tough.

I’ve got an offer that might help. After mid April life gets frantic again but there are still open dates in the summer so, just like the airlines, hotels and the Sham Wow guy, I’ve got a deal for you. By the way, if you’ve booked your date in the last couple weeks you’ve already received your savings as we’ve been trying really hard to help everyone… including ourselves.

If he tries to talk you out of it tell him you’re my cousin followed by your first name. He’ll ask you for my paternal grandfather’s last name and you should say “Stromberg”. It usually works.

Let me close by saying I have only one requirement. I ask that pastors not use these Ecomedy savings to pay themselves embarrassingly large yearly bonuses.

Fortunately folks there is a light at the end of this tunnel. Unfortunately the tunnel spills into a deep chasm. Fortunately the river is deep. Unfortunately the rapids are deadly but…
