I remember being a young skater back in NJ where I come from. Yup, I'll admit to my flatland roots. Grew up riding the trains in to NYC to skate the city from FIT to SOHO to the Upper East Side and back again. What I remember most though, were the crews that I skated with and rode the trains with and ate, slept and shit skateboarding with. What I'm gettin at here... SKATERS UNITE. Like it or not, we'll always be a minority. There will always be authority figures trying to shut us out, shut us down, or whatever. What we have is each other. I see way too many kids 'round here skatin by themselves all the time, when I know that there are a lot of you out there. This vexes me... I'm terribly vexed : )~ For real though, the skaters in this town should be not just out skating solo, but forming crews and getting their crews together to roll en masse and make their presence felt. Wanna see things with regards to the skate scene change, see a skate park, etc., make sure that no one in this town views you as a minority. I'm not saying don't skate alone... I understand and enjoy the quality of an extended solo session tying the same trick 400 times, but you can learn from one another, have more fun together and help generate social change. Down? Let's get it going. I'd like to throw out the idea of a massive crew skate across the Portland St. Bridge... basically, a traffic stopper. I'm not gonna declare a time or date, cause y'all have gotta generate some action on your own, but if you let me know, i'll be there skate underfoot. peace- SK
