Chancellor for the US 2012

Well okay fine then...it's cool to view someones art, but not being able to fully understanding some of it loses some of it's beauty. Like When Blood and Fire Brings rest, it's really hard to get what he's saying but actually being able to read them, then I was blown away. Oh well!...but NO KUDOS for you!

I respect this decision, but it's kind of frustrating. I'm sure I will get over it.

That's just mean.
Can you guys please tell me what Jimmy says after "Burn it down! Burn it down!" on Trip the Landmine? and when are you going to start touring?

Hey Joel, I knew it wasn't Jimmy on the "Bring it down" part, but it is him on the "I bleed and I burn... walk away" part, correct?

Is it because they secretly have satanic undertones and you'll lose your record deal if anyone finds out?......J/K......But seriously...?

i've figured out a few though there are some gaps that need filling. I kinda thought about starting a myspace dedicated to fans piecing together the lyrics but alas... im a lazy bastard.

The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole is a awesome album. But why the dry sense of humour??? If the lyrics were written for you guys who are in the band, why did you bother putting out an album for the people? ..Hope you work this out.
Cheers-rob:-)

we wrote the lyrics for our own personal reasons and if people can figure some of them out and take in their own personal meaning for themselves.. well, that is part of the fun. kinda like weezer the blue album.. except way way less obvious and audible. haha....we wanted to leave some mystery. looks like it worked! ;-)....xoxo joel

Interesting... Perhaps the first band I've come across to actually willfully withhold lyrics from the fans. If one was to write down the lyrics to the best of their ears' abilities, would you confirm or deny their accuracy?....God bless, rock on, hope to see you at Cornerstone again this summer...-Daniel

i don't understnad why you would do this! like norma jean's BTMKTC there were no lyrics, but the CD meant a LOT more once i found the lyrics online. if this band is supposed to be a ministry, you kind of NEED to show people the words...

um...no one said this was supposed to be a ministry. it seems like they take the same approach to their music as zao. go watch the zao documentaries and become enlightened.

also, someone here clearly underestimates the power of raw music. lyrics aren't everything, after all.

I completely understand what you guys mean by not posting the lyrics. I also understand how it can be frustrating to the fans as well. But in creating something, it's nice to have mystery. I know when I write something I don't like people trying to guess what some things are metaphors to and such.
God bless

Oh, very mysterious! ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;((((((((((((((((( :D Ok, here we go fans, then we should figure it out ourselves. I start. It's hard to me because English is NOT my first language, but here are some rows from Calling, please fill in the missing parts if anyone understand more. Trenches - Calling … … … What did you see? (?) I feel something behind (?) These will swell my flesh. The clouds are coming, calling me The clouds are calling me (?) Closing our eyes (?) And run from this I cannot heal until collapse. Who calling? Who calling? I’ll shelter me I coming down, lay down again Down. … … Well I can’t heal I don’t sleep.

all i wanna know is if the album was meant to be FOR the Lord! cuz Jimbo definitely is saying "We want Holy fire......" at the beginning of "End"! I just wanna know if the album is intended to be somewhat of a heavy Zao meets Deftones worship-esque album. Cuz that's how I'm takin' it! I love you guys and have been following you since day ONE!....Mikey

well man. actually what he is saying is :....we walk over fire ..choking on the ashes ..that we have left ..the sun will burn out..the earth will flood....this album was not FOR the lord.. but it isn't NOT for him either. everything that jimmy does in his life glorifies his beliefs and just like anyone else.. should be respected for that. we are not all built the same way and therefore don't all believe the same thing.

Dear sirs, you will be pleased to know that every day since the album was released (and for several months before with the myspace released demo tracks) I have spent some amount of time trying to figure Mr. Jimmy Ryan out. Shame on him. Shame on Trenches. ............Just do me a favor and release the lyrics with the next album. I think two of these suckers would inadvertantly cause me to flunk out of high school.......

I'm looking at this from BOTH sides of the fence:....A.) You didn't release the lyrics with the album, making people look FURTHER into what you guy's are .. doing musically, giving people a better understanding of the feel of all the songs in general. .. I mean, hearing Jimmy scream over semi-clean, melodic parts like in "Calling" is probably the .. most epic thing in the entire world . As a fan of instrumental bands like Pelican, I believe the.. music can have more to say than actual words sometimes, painting a broader picture. Words .. can actually saturate the music sometimes ; ] .. So, I respect you for not putting lyrics in your booklet... Looking at other bands like Converge, where you have Jake Bannon's ridiculously raw vocals that .. sound awesome with the music, reading lyrics almost takes away from the Converge experience .. sometimes. So, artistically, you guy's mapped it our perfectly! ....B.) On the other hand, I can see why some people would be upset. Considering Jimmy's prior .. frontman position in Haste The Day, a huge forefront of the Christian heavy music scene, people.. , like myself, adore his lyrics from a Christian stand point. They're almost sustenance to relate .. to and to get through each day. However, I realize you guy's aren't all Christians, which is why .. I'm glad a couple of people have mentioned Zao, because Zao is respected widely as an awesome.. band, musically & lyrically, by Christians & non-Christians alike. That being said, people are going.. to wonder what the lyrical content is about regardless, but like you said, the mystery stays. ....The Tide Will Swallow Us Whole is a monstrous album. Can't wait to here a sophomore release. ....You guy's are just fluid with creativity. It's unreal. I'd say your only competition right now would be Hands, those guy's are pretty epic. The Trenches vs. Hands Tour would be a pretty sight to see ; ]..
