Or maybe that's redundant. Isn't "news" always "new" by definition?
Whatever.
Anyhow, it's been a while since I've posted, so I'll mention a few things here that are coming up for Pendragon. There's lots of exciting stuff on the horizon.
In no particular order, except as I think of it...
1) Raven Rise is nearing completion. As I've posted before, the publication date is May 20th. This time around, no advance copies will be sent out to avoid the whole spoiler thing that happened with The Pilgrims of Rayne. So...if anybody says they have an advance copy, they don't. I won't even get one. But then again, I already know what's going to happen. Muhahahahaha!
2) We're going through a whole re-vamping of the website. There isn't a date set for the launch, but I'm hoping that it will be some time in December.
3) When the site re-launches, we'll also be showing the cover for Raven Rise. (It's awesome, by the way) I'm just happy that Bobby's eyes are brown. Sheesh.
4) Also on May 20th, the first Pendragon graphic novel will be published! It will be...as if it could be anything else...The Merchant of Death. The adapter/illustrator is Carla Speed McNeil. Maybe you've seen her other work. She's awesome. On the new website the plan is to have a separate section devoted just to the graphic novels.
5) Here's something fun. We're now beginning work on some Pendragon spin-off books. The idea is for them to be published BEFORE Pendragon 10 is published. Each one will be about the backstory of three of the Travelers! It's still very much in the beginning stages right now, so there isn't much else to write about them. If you have a favorite Traveler, you'll be able to read about some of the things that happened to them BEFORE they became Travelers. Or before they realized they were Travelers. Or something like that. Stay tuned for more news about these books as they are developed.
6) The final Pendragon backlist hardcover will be out in November. Finally! Black Water is now in hardcover. That completes it. Now all of the Pendragon books are also out in hardcover.
7) Finally, many people have asked and I now have an answer. The paperback of "The Quillan Games" will be out this Christmas. The official date is December 26th, but stores should have them before that. It's not like the new books when they are only available on the publication date. These should be around before that.
Phew. That's it. Lots of stuff going on.
Hobey ho,
D.J.
