Living as a christian and also a model there are alot of things that I feel I shouldn't partake in, If I confess to be a christian. Many people say that they're a christian, but have not light. Well thats not the type of Christian that I strive to be. I myself don't think you should have to tell someone your a christian for them to know, they should see through your good works....sooooooo I ask as a christian model what do you think is to much, where should the line be drawn?

Can't wait to here your response

Smooches

My opinion religious beliefs shouldn't interfere with how good you do your work in any industry be it modeling, or anything else. As long as you have proof of quality work and you're dependable, etc. That should be all that matters. And if the theme of a project isn't to your liking or against something you believe in.Stick to your guns, and it'll be their loss. And you can continue finding better work elsewhere.

That's my 2 cents on it. :)

I agree to the 1st coment. Your committment to the Lord should reflect in your committment to your work, whatever it may be. However, you should not compromise your morals. Remember that modelling is only the human aspect of marketing. You are in the 'marketing' business, so to speak, so if there is a product you would not endorse or a concept you don't approve (eg. a hip-hop shoot with mysogenistic undertones, an overtly sexual shoot, etc) you should not do it. Many models and actresses have nudity clauses for their beliefs. I will point out that this concept is easier to adhere to in commercial modelling as opposed to high-fashion, so if it is fame you seek, it may not work. There are many more models that are willing to do what you wont. But if you are creative, expand your horizons, and explore all of your options, you can have a successful career.

The line is set to where ever you want to set it.

You are not pursuing your religion for people. It's for you. Your blessings don't come from all these other people that call themselves whatever...

Do you, find your path and lead the way to your success. Go as far as you can get and as long as you are comfortable with it.

God knows your heart. Not people. Strive to be the best person you want to be and can be , not the best person society/people dictate you to think you have to be...

Ok... have to run...

Hope this somewhat helps... brief reply

C.

I feel you hun I don't mention religion/political views ever but the comments/responses I get after working w/ clients let me know they see what I'm about and truly we all know as models when something is too much. Like was mentioned above if you feel convicted or you know you're going too far you need to stop. If you truly believe in God you know he told you he'd take care of you, give you your heart's desires and that the righteous have NEVER been forsaken. ***Meaning who gives a flip what those models in the world had to do to be successful YOU operate in a different kingdom!

I am as well a christian model and i know the temptations that come along with just being in this field.  We sometimes wonder why we havent made it to the top but greater is he that is in me than he that is in the world. I think that if you feel your religion is being compromised then thats where the line is drawn especially in doing anything nude.  Remember only what you do for Christ will last.

I love this blog as well.  I have been out of the game of modeling for a while. Focusing more on music ministry with my husband. Recently, just getting back into it again.  However, I am now married and have 2 children.  I am know doubt a believer in Jesus Christ and I believe as well conviction should make you draw the line.  As I venture back into the field I am looking for more commercial work/print work.  Not looking to be a video vixen or on the cover of Black Men's Mag.  Your light should shine and I pray that we can ban together and form a group of models who are christian who need encouragement and others to talk to when we get presented with things.  Let the word of God and your relationship with Christ and hearing His voice be your final authority.  Stay prayed up!

Much Luv

Hi Candace,

You are doing a wonderful thing and God is blessing you for it. I am an elder and teacher at my church in Bethnal Green. London, England. God has blessed me with many talents and one of the talents he has given me is the ability to create and make  beautiful evening and bridal wear. (See www.markanthonyjohnson.com)

It was on saturday march 31st i had  a fashion show. I work closely with a lot of models and believe that while unsaved models can get a way with alot of things, saved models cannot because of there life in Christ.

It must be worth remembering that Esther in the bible was a beauty queen who herself at one point had to go for 12 months beauty treatment, but model esther was not just a beautiful woman on the outside but also on the inside, she was a God fearing woman and one that God used in a mighty way. Esther was about Gods business.

Continue in what you are doing and use your sister Esther as an example.

GOD BLESS!

As Christians, we work for God first, then we work our for ourselves. We have a responsibility to do God's work and anything else is secondary. He will take care of the rest regardless. We all have temptations regardless of what field of work we are in. Let your light shine for God, and he will keep you lamp full.

God Bless,
Tobias
