Current mood:  sad
In 2002, Kenneth Adelman, at the time a member of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, wrote in the Washington Post, "I believe demolishing [Saddam] Hussein's military power and liberating Iraq would be a cakewalk."  Mr. Adelman's belief has been widely criticized as fatally underestimating the costs of invading Iraq.  But how many of those critics have fought for a cake in a stressful elementary school cakewalk?  Further, how many of those critics have played live music for a brutal elementary school cakewalk?  The Starlingtons sure have, you betcha, most recently on October 26 at my kids' elementary school.  Shea and I were beat after a half-hour of furiously playing snippets of the five fiddle tunes we know in the key of D.  Thankfully, Sarah and my lovely wife were keeping law and order as they called out the numbers of the winning cakewalkers.  And it is purely coincidence that both of my young'uns won cakes.  Mmmm, cake....  Check out Eric's superlative snapshots in our photos section to live the havoc of a cakewalk.  You won't be the same again (how nonsensical is that?).
