Muddy Waters, the inventor of electric blues, the forefather of Rock and Roll and the performer of the song The Rolling Stones were to name their band after, came to Jersey and performed a year before his death. Friday July 4th 1982 saw him play at Fort Regent's Gloucester Hall.

After one sold out UK tour already under his belt, Mud Morganfield the eldest son of Muddy Waters, perhaps the most famous blues legend of them all, will be flying in to Jersey from Chicago for a series of four exclusive gigs at the beginning of May. A hugely charismatic performer, Mud's command of the stage and the audience alike have left blues clubs spellbound and have earned him rave reviews in all of the UK's top blues magazines. Fred Rothwell from Blues and Rhythm magazine witnessed one of those shows. "More than a pastiche ... a genuine artist who just happens to sound like the greatest bluesman in the world... Mud tore the place up ..... and had the whole crowd whoopin' and a hollerin' in all the right places. Mud Morganfield is a natural performer, at ease and full of fun".

The Hotel Revere, Kensington Place will be presenting Mud on Thursday 8th of May, with a specially constructed Cajun menu followed by Mud's set. On Friday 9th he will be playing a unique acoustic gig at Food In The Frame at the Harbour Gallery, St Aubin. Chef Danny Moisan will be preparing a selection of Mud's dad's favourite dishes. On the Saturday 10th Mud will play The Blue Note Bar, St Helier, which has been home to Jersey blues for so many years. The grande finale of this very exciting set of Blues gigs will take place at The Drift Bar at The Royal Yacht Hotel on Sunday the 11th who will be presenting a special themed evening.

Mud will perform many of his dad's most famous songs at the gigs, as well as a selection of his own original material. He will be backed at all gigs by Jersey's premier blues band The Dirty Aces, who themselves have been turning heads over last few months. Led by Harmonica player Giles Robson, of whom Blues in Britain magazine has called "Harmonica virtuoso....one of the finest harmonica players around" that same magazine has said of the band: "..high energy....dirty, rough and ready Chicago blues...the band have the style nailed...this is a band well worth catching."

Lead singer Giles Robson, who has organised the series of gigs says that he is very excited about the musical collaboration between The Dirty Aces and Mud Morganfield. "It's going to be a great musical experience. I've been listening to Muddy Waters from when I was about fourteen years old, as I am a big fan of Muddy Water's original harmonica player Little Walter. The Dirty Aces are going to provide great backup for Mud's powerful voice. Having spoken on the phone with him, we know that he is very excited at the prospect of playing with the band and visiting Jersey".

This will be another event in an ever increasingly busy schedule for Mud. April the 4th (His dad's birthday) see's him launching his new Album "Fall Waters Fall" at perhaps the world's most famous Blues Club, Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago. He will then be off on a tour of Italy taking in Naples, Turin, Rome and Milan.

Places for the Revere perfomance including the special Cajun menu will cost £27.50 each, and need to booked and paid for in advance of the night. Please phone The Revere on 01534 611111 to reserve your seats/tables. Friday at Food In The Frame is ticket only and priced at £30.00, to include both the meal and the performance.
