DIRTY DIAMOND TO HEADLINE FEBRUARY TRIC TOWN
Monthly Indie Rock event to be held at the Mojo 13
Wilmington, DE – February 9, 2007 – Wilmington's longest running monthly concert series, Tric Town returns to Mojo 13 on Saturday, February 17, at 9 p.m. A $5 cover charge will be requested at the door, the event is 21 and up. Mojo 13 is located at 1706 Philadelphia Pike in North Wilmington's Holly Oak neighborhood and can be contacted at 302-798-5798.
February's event will feature Dirty Diamond from Philadelphia. Dirty Diamond is the world's greatest one-man Neil Diamond cover band with filthy lyrics! If you love Neil, then you'll love Dirty Diamond! If you hate Neil, then you'll love Dirty Diamond! The fun doesn't end there…
Double T will also feature the first Tric Town performance by local Delaware area band The Collingwood. Formed in 1999 by guitarist/filmmaker, C. Malinowski, The Collingwood mesh cinema-driven, minor-key melodies with elements of Avant-Rock, creating lengthy, circuitous compositions, both contemplative and severe. Members live, run, and photograph in Landenberg, Pennsylvania and Newark, Delaware. Releases include: "Why Cough? Save." (2003) and "Sylvester to the Bzz Myapp Accompaniment" (2005). And just when you thought we were getting serious…
We are pleased to announce Skeletor will make his Tric Town debut this month. Quote Skeletor, "I have a skull for a face. I'm Evil." You may remember Skeletor from his legendary battles with He-Man that took place all over Eternia. Carmen Martella III, a modern day Andy Kaufmann, is Skeletor, and he's not afraid to sing your favorite show tunes, while letting you know whose the most evil person in the room.
Last, but certainly not least, the world premiere of Trixine Records produced rap artist Young Smoov. This mysterious local Wilmington rap artist will expose himself to the world on the third Saturday in February.
Wilmington's premier indie rock showcase (as named by Out & About Magazine) Tric Town is produced in association with Tric Zine (a.k.a. Trixine) a free regional publication with a distribution of over 5,000 printed copies in Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania including Philadelphia, the greater Baltimore/D.C. metro area, and mail order. Issue #23 was released in January of 2007. Tric Town's monthly concert series dates back to June of 2002 when the Barn Door hosted such performers as The Burnside Project and Hurry Up Offense from New York City. The event moved to the short lived Pirate BBQ and then the 4W5 Café in the summer of 2005 and hosted, among other performers, National Eye (Park the Van Records) and King God (Hot Dog City Records) from Philadelphia. Finally finding a true home in the spring of 2006 at the then newly opened Mojo 13, Tric Town is now truly an international event, having hosted Oppenheimer (Bar None Records) from Ireland and the Littl' Ans from London, as well as continuing to focus on the best local and regional acts in experimental, alternative, and indie pop music. Tric Zine is located online at www.trixine.com.
Mojo 13, which can be located online at www.myspace.com/mojothirteen, is Wilmington's most unique original music venue and plays host to weekly DJ nights, Electronic/Experimental Music events, and regularly hosts Rock shows of all kinds. Admission is charged at the door. Please contact Andrew Miller for Tric Town bookings. Tric Town events are exclusive to Delaware and the Mojo Thirteen, while Tric Town associates Trixine Chemical Corp. and ADMusic present events both in other Delaware venues and throughout the city of Philadelphia.
