Mojo 13 is located at 1706 Philadelphia Pike in North Wilmington's Holly Oak neighborhood and can be contacted at 302-798-5798. May's event will feature a headline set by Arden resident Kalai King with help from several musician friends including members (and ex-members) of The Elktones, Lauren Hart Band, and Montana Wildaxe. Returning back to Delaware last year after spending sometime making a name for himself in Los Angeles, Kalai has had two recent high profile opening gigs for some big names. First with alt-country legend Alejandro Escovedo at the Arden Guild Hall in April, then just two weeks ago at the North Star Bar in Philadelphia opening for Dave Matthews Band sideman Tim Reynolds. This will be Kalai's first headline gig in Delaware with a full band since September's Arden Fair, and the first with this new lineup. Kalai will start a monthly music club at Mojo 13 in late June. This will be a no cover event to workshop new tunes, and feature the areas best up and coming singer-songwriters with a country/folk tilt. May's event will also feature the progressive alt-country of American Altitude, from Jersey City, New Jersey. Delaware's most famous Ragtime/Bluegrass band, The Delaware Rag, fresh off the release of their debut cd, simply titled, "The Rag". And finally, Brooklyn, New York's one man folk/pysch band Begushkin, who will be backed by members of American Altitude.
Wilmington's premier indie rock showcase (as named by Out & About Magazine) Tric Town is produced in association with Tric Zine (a.k.a. Trixine) a free regional publication with a distribution of over 5,000 printed copies in Delaware, Southeastern Pennsylvania including Philadelphia, the greater Baltimore/D.C. metro area, and mail order. Tric Town's monthly concert series dates back to June of 2002 when the Barn Door hosted such performers as The Burnside Project and Hurry Up Offense from New York City. The event moved to the short lived Pirate BBQ and then the 4W5 Café in the summer of 2005 and hosted, among other performers, National Eye (Park the Van Records) and King God (Hot Dog City Records) from Philadelphia. Finally finding a true home in the spring of 2006 at the then newly opened Mojo 13, Tric Town is now truly an international event, having hosted Oppenheimer (Bar None Records) from Ireland and the Littl' Ans from London, as well as continuing to focus on the best local and regional acts in experimental, alternative, and indie pop music. Tric Zine is located online at www.trixine.com. Mojo 13, which can be located online at www.myspace.com/mojothirteen, is Wilmington's most unique original music venue and plays host to weekly DJ nights, Electronic/Experimental Music events, and regularly hosts Rock shows of all kinds. Admission is charged at the door. Please contact Andrew Miller for Tric Town bookings. Tric Town events are exclusive to Delaware and the Mojo Thirteen, while Tric Town associates Trixine Chemical Corp. and Andrew Miller Presents both offer events in other venues including several throughout the city of Philadelphia. # # #
