'A dark, nebulous globe disrupted an ocean of stars. The thing appeared to teeter at first, like a broken hinge on the doorway of the cosmos. Then it shot forth and gathered momentum as it tore across the constellation Canes Venatici, engorged in the disemboweled energy of an exploding sun. The thing swept further across the stellar tracks that defined the orbit of a thousand worlds. It grew as it converted an unnamed planet to a blanket of lifeless asteroids. It hovered above a moon, drowning the stars in shadow, and then pulverized it, as though clenched by a giant, invisible fist.'

READ MORE from THE ZENITH WARNING, the sequel to The Overman!

And so it begins again. I'm writing the novel first, and plan to post it here online, as it's written, along with my pre-production art from time to time. I hope you'll give it a read. My long-range goal is to give The Zenith Warning the same kind of treatment that The Overman had in comic book form. I'm taking my time with it. I have another project that will keep me busy until 2010, my so-called super-hero magnum opus Champion Of A Lost Universe. But while I'm producing art for that book, I plan to complete The Overman sequel in novel form, and then adapt it to comic book form shortly aftewards. As it stands, Shane has decided to move on, and I know we'll all be completely amazed by his future projects. Anyway, it will be a long while before I have to start thinking about how this sequel will look as a comic book mini-series. For the foreseeable future, I'm in novel-writing mode.

Even though The Overman works quite well as a stand-alone, those familiar with it shouldn't be surprised that there could be a follow-up. Obviously, there are huge spoilers ahead on this production blog, so if you haven't yet picked up The Overman at your local comic shop (the final issue was in stores in April), I'd advise against reading anything on this blog from this point forward, until you've absorbed all 5 issues of The Overman.
