Current mood: accomplished Category: Blogging
The year is drawing to a close, and so I figure it is time for this damn blog again.
What a crazy year 2008 was...the economic crisis, a writers' strike, Carlin dead, Britney go hot again, life in Darfur sucks, attack on Mumbai, The Dark Knight (RIP Heath Ledger), Johnny Kage and his new Gingerbread House, Deadmau5 being a dick trying to sue everyone (and dissing DJs), Tropic Thunder and Step Brothers, Sarah Palin,The Juarez Drug War, The Zohan, The Jonas Brothers (suck!), Cheech and Chong reunion, Esteban Carrasco the EP heart throb, Barack the Vote!, and many other happenings to keep our eyes open.
Personally, it has been a good year. School is going good (almost done!), I had a great first year of production, been featured on numerous blogs, RatedH.net (rocks!), and I also had the chance to hold some of the best residencies in the city--Muse, Sky, O2, Marco Polo, Bennigans (*tear*), Vanilla, and Republic. I was even nominated for Best Club DJ in Whats Up Magazine (but then again, who wasn't nominated? I keed I keed!)
The only thing that ground my gears this year were some of the people I met in the clubs. I guarantee you-- I got every dirty and conceited look from a lot of the people I played for, only to have thier expressions change once they saw what I did at the club/bar. Not only that, but many of the people I played to were more interested in looking fashionable for others than actually partying/dancing (hella annoying). Plus, it was many of these same people who took the time to tell me how much they loved my music, or how "you're the best in El Paso"....or (the worst one of all) "I'd go hit you up wherever you play at".
Pretty funny, actually. cuz you bitches ain't getting any more free cds;)
So to the 50% of the EP party scene who goes out to party, without a care in the world...to the old school buddies from the Bar 26 days....to the people who still supported me after my fallout with a certain Union Plaza lounge...the the DJs who took the time to hang out between songs or on off nights....to Lucy ("prouda you"), my close friends and family, and every other great person I have met---thank you for a great year.
And to the other 50% of the scene who think clubbing is more a modeling gig than it is a party... to those who couldn't remember any part of my name (not even the "fuckin" part, wtfffff) after meeting me more than 3 times in a month...to those of you who judged me negatively before I made your cool friends dance...and to DeadMau5 for setting a great example of unity and love in the electronic scene (*note the sarcasmo*)--
go fist yourselves.
twice.

I plan on partying in 2009 (music wise, not alchohol), and boy do I mean it.
There are no better words to end this blog with than those of some crafty guys and a dance they made up--
"We can dance if we want to We can leave your friends behind 'Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance Well they're no friends of mine"
see ya around in '09!!!
