FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

"YO! WHAT HAPPENED TO PEACE?"
International Artists Gather in London To Promote Peace

"Yo! What Happened to Peace?" is a traveling art exhibition of contemporary peace posters from international artists, promoting the message of non-violence while showcasing the beauty of hand-crafted printing. Shoreditch, London's landmark venue The Foundry (86 Great Eastern Street) will host the Yo! show's first appearance in the U.K.. Opening night is Tuesday, November 6, 2007 from 7pm to 11pm and admission is free.  Artists from Los Angeles, San Francisco and South Carolina will be in attendance demonstrating live poster screen printing and signing the newly published book Yo! What Happened To Peace?.

New pieces by Robert Del Naja (of Massive Attack), Winston Smith and Gee Vaucher will join over 250 prints that have stirred critical dialogue about the world's growing peace movement. The show also includes work by Ames Bros., Chaz Bojorquez, Robbie Conal, Eric Drooker, Emek, Shepard Fairey/OBEY, Karen Fiorito, Firehouse, Brandy Flower, Futura, Gustavo Garcia Vaca, Kayrock & Wolfy, Josh MacPhee, Mear One, Favianna Rodriguez, Seripop, Yuri Shimojo, Seth Tobocman and many others.  Limited edition prints and the Yo! book will be available for purchase at The Foundry. The book catalogs the show's extraordinary collection of hand-crafted prints in 144 pages of color images. Its provocative die-cut stencil cover is an invitation to readers to pose the question.

"Yo! What Happened to Peace?" began in 2003 during the march to war in Iraq.  It has rapidly expanded from 14 posters to an international exposition featuring the work of over 130 artists, many of them prominent culture makers in their home countries. The Yo! show's 2007 European tour continues in London following recent exhibitions in Rome and Brussels. Previous shows have taken place in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Milan, Rejkyavik, Washington D.C., and Chicago.

All artists interested in submitting work to the show can visit www.yoshow.org for guidelines.

War Games

Who shot the first rocket
really doesn't matter does it?

Who suffered the first casualty?
the answer doesn't flatter, does
it?

How much blood's been splattered?
in the air is chit chatter, codes and
doors shut tight, locked forever closed
well to the public for sure

Leaders leading us in the wrong direction
taking no constructive criticism, hearing no
objections, families being torn apart, how can
we tell the difference between two exposed hearts?

Flags folded neatly, words chosen carefully, discretely
sons lost in the mayhem, daughters never to be seen
again, the cause has yet to be defined, while the
lives and limbs disappear, from roadside mines

The news report 65 souls in one month alone, why
isn't that enough to bring them home? how can
they fight and win, that which they can't see, would
our leaders deploy their children? ask and see

Oil, oh did I mention Oil? Is there any honesty left
in this world? a Pandora's box has been unleashed
too much grief from Iraq's streets, what a crooked
hand we were dealt, is this war all about wealth?

Shame on those who know it is, have they ever thought
about those who died, probably wanted to live? I know
it's not politically correct to say these things, yet we desperately
need a change, because let's face it, no one wins at "War Games"
