I'm thinking in retrospect that perhaps Huey Lewis once saw a particular young man either driving a Volkswagen or riding his bike and penned a song that made him millions of dollars. The ironic part of this is this chance crossing ,of course ,was the fact that this "Square" was a far better musician, songwriter, and of course mechanic than that fuck will ever hope of being. God, you took the wrong guy, AGAIN! So many fond memories of Steve. lots of good times. I will smile at every mention of his name, after I digest this tragic chapter in our lives.
I love you buddy,
Jay Smay

man, I am at a loss for words, which is rare. Steve was an awesome SOB, a kick ass musician from way back and a gentleman to boot. Thoughts and prayers out to his family and those who loved him, never met anyone who who knew him who didn't.
Maybe folks will be at the Tonic 2/14, The Chris Newman show. Steve will likely be there in spirit as he will likely be in most of the venues in this puddle soaked town of ours for many moons to come.
RIP my brother......................

Man, just at a loss for words, which is rare for this cat. What a humble rumbler and ass kickin' musician from way back. never met anyone who knew Steve who didn't love him. Glad I got to catch up with him at a recent Shiny Things show. Wish I still had the 64 VW Van he rebuilt, a master musician, bike builder, and mechanic. A true renaissance man and a gentleman to boot. Too many fond memories are all flooding back too quickly to digest.
Much love to his family and all who loved him.
Save a warm place, a cold drink, and a hot lass for me my brother, we'll rock and roll and do the stroll...............

How could I explain the relationship I had with Steve? From the very first day I met him he made life more interesting. Playing music together for 10 + years was the best. He was just a kid when I met him, he kept buggin' me to play bass in Sado-Nation. When an opening was available I had him try out. He always gave all he had and added much to our band life.
He was like a little brother to me and Louis. During our many years in The Jackals we had the most fun. Steve always made us laugh, hardly ever made us mad...
I will alway feel his loss.

In a lifetime, there are not many people that you know for more than 20 years and far fewer you remain friends with. Steve is one and will remain one in my heart forever. Because of him, I danced and partied too many nights to count, because of him, I laughed 'til I cried, because of him, I picked up the big dog house and learned to play it, because of him, I have a store and now because of him, I have the sadness of grief. I am honored that he played one last show to benefit Doernbechers Childrens Hospital. You could alway count on Steve when he was needed most. He was that kind of a kind guy. <3

I only knew Steve casually over the past 9 years, but always had fun with him. This is very sad indeed.
