Ok, so I've been saying forever I'm going to record some songs. Make a demo. Start doing something. And here it is...I have officially started. And so far, so good. Unfortunately for me, and possibly for you, I know a little more than nothing about recording. This demo is being recorded in my bedroom, using Garageband and a pc (or mac rather) interface with a DI, and a less than fabulous mic. But hey, what I've done so far, I'm pretty happy with. And if you know me, you know that's crazy talk! I am a perfectionist (lazy perfectionist...to coin Julia Carroll's phrase). So hopefully if I can maintain some sort of weekend momentum, I'll have it finished in the next month..in its pretty little packaging..all shiny with bows and um, well..not really. But it will have a case or something. Won't that be nice? Yep...thought so.

This is the art of DIY. Or rather, this is DIY art.

How much will these pretty packages cost? This could really help with at least some of your moving expenses. . . . I'll buy one.

Oh Ashley, you can't put a price on the creative process! hmm..I don't know yet. But when I do, I'll let you know. I don't think family is allowed to purchase such things though.

Anyway, how's this for luck..yesterday after I had finished for the day, I moved all of my files...garageband, text files containing most all of my lyrics, and my itunes, etc...over to a new hard drive I just installed. THEN, almost right after that, my old hard drive failed. It just died. It made a really bad noise, and that was that. And for the record, whoever the dumbass was who designed the G4 should be grounded. It's near impossible to get the original drive out!

Upon further observation and a conversation with someone more knowledgeable than me (and probably working on more sleep than me too), I realized that the drive is indeed easy to remove. Um, this blog isn't really supposed to be about computers though. How about that demo! :-)
