One day I was reading a magazine...forgot the name of it..my bad...but it had listed the most attended national annual bike rallies  and there were like about 14 and of those fourteen seven were in Florida and out of those seven the one and only to be a Nationally recognized event was the Peterson's HD Key West Poker Run.

Well, if you can't see where I am going with this I just always thought that maybe eventually this event I am trying to make happen can become an Annual Run.  An annual Run for Florida Keys Children's Shelter.  I hope so.  If you sat and talked an hour or so to the director of the shelter to see how they operate and why and with what resources you would calmly just say, hey, its a good thing and it can make a difference. 

It would be awesome if this  Run could become an annual affair.(a small idea that hasn't died yet) This Run is kicking off for the babies, toddlers, teens, and young adults striving to hang on and in need of help..can bring heavy awareness to Monroe County and REMAIN alive...annually coming around to get more people interested and involved. ...

Every charity or foundation who cares for people in need or whatever it may be deserves to be recognized.  Whether its for the homeless, the animal shelter, the red cross, the turtles, the wildlife, the depletion of our natural resources, HEY, there is alot of lacking of alot around the world.  What can I do?  Not alot but if I can get together some good people and have fun and raise some money for children that are distressed in an area that people just visit....that people dont see inside the side streets from the sovenier shops, restaurants, etc............. Sometimes I think about all the charities and organizations that are out there soliciting help and financial support for so many things...I just kind of keep it focused.  Maybe I am wrong but Children, Homelessness, and researching disease seem like they should be high on everyones lists..  Then you can branch out about a million other categories from there. 

The ride should be fun...the weather should be sweet, if its being done for something as important as giving a confused child or young adult some hope, its a blessing.

 So many biker rallies and events around the nation are put on to just have a good time many are also of course put on to raise money for a foundation or charity.  How come there is only one nationally known one for Monroe County....NOW don't get me wrong...there are plenty of runs in Monroe County that go on....but when I asked about for the shelter....there were a handful over the years and nothing annual. 

Its will be exciting to see something develop...even if I can't commit to organizing it every year...I am sure someone will take the baton year after year...if not...I will still do it......so much fun really when you think about it. 

I just thought I would write a little about some of the research I have done. Thanks for reading me....thanks for not clicking away and saying...damn she is babbling.....I know whatever...but wait....

Know this.....there are other fund raisers that are annually held for the shelter such as a the black and white ball.  i understand its put on by the hospital and the committees that are made up of local retired doctors, very well to do people.  Its a fancy party organized by wealthy people.  There are a few couples that take months to solicit their crowning of the King and Queen type of thing while of course raising money by way of donations.  The couple who raises the most money is the king and queen?  How cute yes?  The enterainment, vendors all the details to putting on such an affair would cost...well....you would throw up.  And when I found this out I said all of it being put on to raise money for the shelter.  SO yes a large portion goes to the shelter....BUT what about the money it took to put the party on?  That would have been nice to donate...Anyway...the shelter is given so much money to operate each year....and this Black and White ball has been going on for I think more than 20 years?  So, the shelter kind of counts on the money raised by the ball and YES this is incorporated into their budge.  I asked once what would happen if the ball just stopped from being put on....well..you guessed it...the shelters would close and the  kids would be bused to Dade County Shelters.  As if Dade's shelters aren't stressed out enough....

ITS CRAZY PEOPLE.....

But if its kept in perspective...a small bike rally, event, good time, raise some money, drink some beer, okay....done deal.
