Category: Travel and Places

I climbed on a bus around six oclock to go to the train station. It will be the first time I rode a train by myself. It cost me 15 to get a ride to Liege and back the following day. As I entered the city I saw a lot of factories. I didnt see any restraunts or stores. It kinda scared me. I didnt think I was going to have a good time during my stay here. The train station looked awful. It was half done and really old. I know thats is an odd combination, but it is true. It was nothing like the train staition in Maastricht. I had trouble finding the place to meet my friend. He told me to meet him at gate 7. Once I reached gate 7, I noticed it was a bout a mile long. I stoped and asked a guy if he spoke English. He just laughed and said no.  I just paced back and forth for about 10 mintues until I ran into my friend. It was good to see Giles again. We climbed aboard another train to go to a different part of Liege. I did not know it was possible but this train station looked worse. I acted like it was real nice. I didnt want to hurt my friends feeling because that is where he lived.

We got off the train and walked alil ways to get to his apartment. His apartment was real close to downtown but it looked real old. It wasnt one of the best places I saw but I could be comfortable with living there. When we got there he introduced me to some of his neighbors. They all spoke French. So, we just nodded our heads and shook hands.

Afterwords we went to an Italian restraunt. The food was great. I had some pasta and a cherry beer. Both of those were good. After we got full we went to the party.

The area we where in didnt look like the same area I saw from the train. It was something like a city center where all the students would go at night. There was all kinds of bars in this area. The party was located in one. I was kinda nervous because I thought I was going to be the only one that spoke English.

After I reached the party I found out another friend of mine was there. She went to UNA with Giles last year. I talked to Alessia for alittle bit and she introduced me to some of her friends. She told them I was from Alabama. It sucked they could not speak English because they seemed real nice. I ended up meeting a lot of people that spoke English. When word got around that I was from Alabama, everyone at the bar made me feel like I was the life of the party. I ended up meeting with 3 other people that went to UNA in 2003. They kept on signing Sweet Home Alabama. It was kind of hard for me to explain that Alabama wasnt that sweet. It turned out to be a real fun night though. All these different people would come up to me and bring me a beer to have a chugging contest. Sad to say I lost all of them. I even lost to a beautiful girl about a third of my size.
