On October 14th I turned 21. I got to celebrate it in Amsterdam. It was great. I got to see all the famous sites. We took a stroll down the Red Light District. It wasn't as nice as people make it out to be. They had some pretty prostitutes, but you could tell they where real sleazy. We didnt spend much time there. We went to a couple other places, as well. I am not going into too much detail. Finally the night came to an end and we had to stay in a cheap and nasty hostel, but we didn't spend much time there. Luckly we got free breakfast, but they should have paid us for eating it.
The next day made the trip worth going. We visited Anne Frank's annex in Amsterdam. It was a site to see, but it was real sad. I ended up buying her diary while I was there. I have read small parts of it in my reading book in elementary, but I wanted to get a better view. It is a very interesting book. I am half way through the book right now and I can tell she is learning a lot about life locked away. Her entrees are getting far more interesting the further I go along in the book. I read one of my favourite parts of her entrees last night. She says We look at the fighting down below and the peace and beauty up above. In the meantime, we've been cut off by the dark mass of clouds, so that we can go neither up nor down. It looms before us like an impenetrable wall, trying to crush us, but not yet able to. It sucks that she had to die so young, but they say the good die young.
I ended up keeping a journal since my stay here. I went to Mexico on a mission trip a couple years ago and I had a great time. The sad thing is I cant remember it that well. The wreck played a big part on my memory, but I believe after time past for everyone its hard to remember things so vividly.
