First of all, I am a Mom, blessed with a baby girl and five years later, a baby boy.  They are grown and have flown the nest, so today I'm proud to say,

"Call me Grandma Bird!"

Being a Grandmother has been more of a joy than I ever realized it could be!  My family is my inspiration for many of my reasons to live.  My husband and I enjoy every moment with our adult "kids," and our two remarkable Grand kids!

Life on this crazy, mixed-up, but beautiful planet, is not always easy.  We all have our good days and with them come the bad, along with the sad.  We also find ourselves concerned about the turmoil so many of us have to endure.  Most of the world's problems seem to be out of our control, but there are problems we can do something about!

My outlet is in writing and loving what I do, because my main concern is for all the children of the world who desperately need our help in communicating their thoughts, hopes and dreams, as well as they possibly can.

It's truly a sad situation when we learn so many of our kids are leaving high school as drop-outs, and even graduating, yet many of them are still illiterate.

So how can we, as parents and grandparents, help with this worldwide problem?  All I can suggest is this: Read interesting, parent-approved books, along with them, because teachers really don't have the same amount of time to spend with your kids and grand kids as you do!

Written with love to all caring parents and grandparents,

Donna Bird
